Cloud storage using HDD

Is it possible to use cloud storage to store & sync files, music and etc. (Like what dropbox is having). Just that using my own harddisk to store & I can retrieve them anywhere & anytime.

Such stuff are do-able?

of cos, the ez way is just to buy a NAS (low power, app support, easy to setup)

or unless u like to DIY ..... u can google "build your own nas" or "build ftp server"

than set it up with ddns

Any recommendations looking for 2 bay. Must be fast, stable and secure. Budget roughly $400.

Purpose: Same as dropbox, Drive and etc.
But using own server with security.

Cheaper alternative will be to check your router if it allows for connection of a USB HDD. Some routers allows you to connect a USB HDD as a network drive. There is no data protection in this case since you cannot configure a single drive for data protection, but with the DDNS services, you should be able to share your network drive.
