Thoughts on COE trend so far into 2018? Seems like it's on a slow and steady downward trend recently

My COE expiring early next year.. thinking whether to continue waiting in hopes it further decreases or bite the bullet and renew PQP the moment it shows signs of increasing

Sky acitv engines have lots of problems after sometime. The design of the engine have the issues that it is trying to resolve in the first place..
Multi ports injections is better...
So wait for sky acitv 2...

Yep. Apparently this is not even discussed in the mazda thread. They will find out soon enough

Tons of problem for direct injection, but some manufacturers use hybrid system to overcome.

Every 30000km or so need to open up the intake valves to decarbon???

Can i check with you guys something,

If my COE ends in Jan 2020, and maybe somewhere in Feb 2019 the COE hits real rock bottom, and I renew my COE then, what are my potential losses? Aside from the obvious loss of PARF?

If you have read extensive enough you will probably realised the carbon builds up on DI engines if you (1) dont clock enough mileage - merely driving your car to your nearby coffeeshop daily, (2) don’t occasionally rev your engine to the red line - not everyday but you can do it once every few weeks.

Afterall, its a give and take kind of situation where DI engine (skyactiv) yields better fuel economy but with the possibility of carbon build up if you didnt do either of two aforemention points to ensure the engine operates at the optimal (higher) temperature.

Honestly speaking i havent heard much about skyactiv engine running into major issue in singapore. So whats the real concern?

You forfeit the remaining coe of your car which is roughly 11months.
