Com restarts by itself while in game.

Hey guys,

Recently while trying to play games like Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm, upon entering the game, within a min or so, my computer will reboot by itself without any error or BSOD. Normal surfing, watching of videos or games like Hearthstone wont does that though.

So I was wondering whether is it my PSU is failing? Happen to see some people using this app to check, like the +12V part, suppose to be 12V + at all times even idling? Not sure if this helps, so I guess I will post it here.

Test with a spare PSU if you have one. Else remove your GPU and use IGP.

Go to your bios and check what is your +12v readings.

Yes, even when idle it should be 12v or very close. Able to show us what are your readings?

base on your pic is like your psu reading are kinda below normal...its like leaking out or something like that.

hope that when u take a picture of your bios temp should be of correct reading.

Based on hwinfo, your 12v, 5v n 3.3v all got problem. Check bios readings to double confirm.

Btw what PSU are you using?

Ok, went to check my BIOS. Everything looks normal. Guess the software is giving out incorrect info.

BIOS shows,

+3.3V 3.383V
+5V 5.160V
+12V 12.168V

CPU temperature : 44 degree.

Got no spare PSU, so cant try it out.

Using Superflower HX-600 Gold Modular

You monitor the bios voltages first. See if it fluctuates a lot.

Another thing to check is your GPU like jtjt00 suggested

I will try using onboard graphics later. So lets say if I swapped over to onboard graphics, what do I look out for? So if my com still reboot by itself upon entering the game, PSU will be the issue here?

Update:

Just tried removing my graphic card and using the onboard one, went into Overwatch, com did not reboot by itself. (But FPS is horrendous though, pretty much unplayable, which is expected)

Nope dont have a spare system to test. Bought my GPU nearly 3 years back. And yeah, the same thing happen to games like Heroes of the Storm. I just took out my graphic card to dust it, shall see if the problem still persist.

It's really between your GPU and PSU. To be 100% sure, you should test with a spare PSU.

It's either GPU problem or your PSU 12v rail has problem since the issue only arise during gaming.

Are the fans on the GPU spinning?

Yep GPU fans are spinning. No spare PSU to test, so right now I only can see what I can do. I just try back my original set up, com did not reboot. Shall try a few more times and see how.

this had happen to my i7 2700k with msi p67 gd65.I had done all the steps that they mention before and 0i had tried and change new rams(8gb x 2 lp corsair from amazon) and new psu( from lazada 550watts 80plus) ,i even disconnect all my hard drives to confirm..in the end the main problems is motherboard...i bought a h61 cheap cheap motherboard to change and boom ..no more auto restart and relooping ....

my problem is when i start playing games sometime within 10minute it auto restart than went into like maybe 3 or more reboot,sometime only 1 time ..than i will be able to play another 10 to 1hr than it start again is dam annoying when you are playing game like dota 2.

best case is you can borrow some item and test it 1 by 1..normally i will buy and sell them later.
