Currently, high wattage psu is expensive. I thinking of combine 2 or more power supply so as to reduce cost and at the same time increase the max wattage that a system can use.

Is there DIY way? OTher than so far the commercial add2psu but it is expensive and yet to confirm whether can be use on 230v psu.

Oh, Great. Thanks for the reply. Now need to find this item.

Later sexplode

Wads ur rig serp ?

I thinking to connect 3 R9 280x using my current aerocool strike x 1100w , max w on 12v rail is 1080w. Based online calculation, it seems to exceed the limit of the psu. So i thinking of other alternatives other than getting higher wattage psu. Also SLS shortage of high wattage psu and also the price is a concern.

Ghetto way to do is permanently ground 2nd PSu and use PSu on button.... connector shown is a more elegant solution.... do you have 2nd PSu slot for your case?

Casing can fix 2 standard PSU?

Casings that fits 2 ATX PSU's are almost exclusively only those Godzilla-sized cases like

- Cooler Master HAF 932 (and the advanced model)
- Cooler Master ATCS 840
- Lian-Li PC-A70, PC-A7010, PC-A70F
- Lian-Li PC-A71, PC-A7110, PC-A71F
- Lian-Li PC-A77 - NOT the PC-A77F
- Lian-Li PC-B70
- Lian-Li PC-B71
- Lian-Li PC-V2010
- Lian-Li PC-V2110
- Silverstone Temjin TJ07
- Silverstone Temjin TJ11
- Silverstone Temjin TJ12

Although you can really save almost a hundred or more by combining PSU's to hit a kW compared to buying a good kW PSU, the extra trouble and added risks really makes it a silly idea unless you're really hardcore about saving that bit of money, which is really ironic if you're planning to run a kW or more worth of parts in your rig.

once again the devil strikes :D

but its true la dont be penny wise pound foolish. knn if you need so much power means you're running damn hardcore parts. in hifi and audio power is the impt factor. no power no matter how solid your parts also no go

I run in open air, as casing is too hot for it to handle.

If you're mining, then go ahead as the main objective is to make as much money as possible while spending as little as you can. However if you're building a gaming rig, I would suggest a single PSU instead.

Although running PSU's in parallel like this might reduce the efficiency a bit, but for capital cost vs expenses cost, two decent 500w PSU is still far greatly cheaper than a single 1kW+ PSU(friggin hell I just checked they go for as much as $400?!).

What is mining? I doing video and grahics rendering. Currently I have 1 R9 280x and the other 2 were given to me during my birthday. So now i have 3 cards, I don't want to sell it as i saw many complains on seller and buyers issues that freak me in selling my extra cards.

Since i have the extra cards, I shall made full use for my own video and grahics rendering.
