Yes the Ryzen is much better. But it is 2500U so wondering if it is worthy to top up the double amount to get i7 intel from local instead.

Unlikely if you want cheaper laptop as well as able to get asap.
Shops like PCdreams still can get laptop at decent price.
The AMD Ryzen laptop does sound like a good option, however
the shipping will take around 2 - 4 weeks due to pandemic.

As you want low price laptop which is why I didn't recommend
brand new laptop as below $800 is very difficult to get a decent.
My advice depending on your usage, look for Intel i series, SSD
and at least 8 GB of RAM will do.

I noticed that prices for laptop increase by $100-200 compared to just before **. Missed the asus deal where i7 is going for 1089.

Even this China brand has jack price up by almost $100 during **.

Shouldn’t more supply be coming in since we already 1 mth into **

The last physical PC fair in Q1 got cancelled as well, but there's a virtual PC fair that took place on all 3 E-tailers. You can check when is the Q2 IT fair last year, and it should be around that period of time.
