ma long chen has a knack of killing off all the coolest characters because they can easily be more popular than the stars of the series.

huai kong was immensely popular and when he was killed off, the sales of the comic actually dipped before they accelerated the xian dan story arc to win back fans.

all of us know how powerful wu ming and his shi xiong is from the novels but ma long chen don't dare to let them appear much because they will outshine feng yun. one of the many reasons why he crippled wu ming and eventually killed him off to get rid of their legacy.

Err Wu Ming passed away peacefully at the final issue of the comics leh. Means from start to end he lasted all the way...

again ma did not make it a 100% no doubt ending...cos ma did not include any dialogue but just po jun stunned look when he offered wine to wu ming. FYI fav character of his is wu ming, maybe cos he modeled from hua ying xiong, best char to write for is bu jing yun, but nie feng is always needed just becos he is the ideal person to be in jiang hu and have morals to aspire to...

nie feng during the kirin demon arc, easily got more fans and support than bu jing yun then...
during the end of the 2nd arc, the last issue had 2 covers, NF and BJY, NF cover slightly(?) outsold BJY
3rd arc is the worst for NF fans...basically he is cannon fodder for any new villain looking to prove himself. only towards the end then got a mega boost in power and be less 婆妈

i never read the novels but heard that a lot of backstories of the characters are better fleshed out there.
NF got better treatment than in the comics, Mu Ying Xiong also not just a person looking to better his martial arts, etc. anyway i think that MYX is way cooler than WM

agree. i may be a WM fan but MYX was really heroic in the novels.

the common joke in chinese forums that time was there is this debuff from s2 onwards called 不在我之下. Every op introed character will get debuffed to the speaker's level when they fight......

especially notable in s3, and it is a nf line. Once he says that, that character will become normal and/or gets struck off soon

never managed to finish the comics cause the compilation series stop publishing. this might be a good avenue to close that gap and story.
