hi guys,
I would be going to Osaka for 14 days during dec/jan. I have a few questions to ask about my trip.
1. i am planning to stay in kyoto for first 9 days(2 days in a ryokan and 7 days in a airbnb apartment) and osaka for 5 days(somewhere ard namba), is it a good idea to spread my days like this?
For my trip, i planned to be a leisure trip visiting some onsen, sightseeing and going for a day ski tour.
2. is there any ski resort nearby kyoto for a day trip to recommend? what are the possible day trips i can go ?
3. if i were to travel ard these places which kind of passes should i get? (i am really confused with all the kansai passes and JR passes etc. )
4. i have a morning flight at 10am, is it possible i travel early morning from osaka (namba area)to the airport on a weekday morning? will there be jam? what time would be the first train and all
Thank you in advance! :)

You can either plan your itinerary first then choose the best fitting pass or choose your pass then plan your itinerary around the pass. The latter method is more cost effective, but you may have to sacrifice some sights that could be interesting. You can have hybrid approach by fine tuning your itinerary/passes interchangeably as you go deeper in your planning. Tedious and confusing at times, but that's part of the fun of DIY travel.

Use hyperdia.com to do your travel planning. Check out japan-guide.com for ideas and suggestions. It's a rich store house of information.

Namba(Nankai) has the direct line to KIX. In order to reach KIX by 0800, you can take the 0710 train or earlier.

Your question is answered here:

(With round-trip tickets, the return ticket can be used from any station within the Kyoto, Osaka and Kobe Zone shown above to the Kansai Airport, provided that the passenger does not exit from any station in between.)

Does anyone know how much does it cost to be taking train around kyoto with ICOCA AND HARUKA TICKET? I cant seem to check the prices and which lines are included in the ICOCA AND HARUKA TICKET? Or would it be more worth it if i purchase day pass tickets if i would like to travel to places like nara or kinosaki onsen?

It depends which line you are taking. all are different rates. Check www.hyperdia.com for the prices. Enter the departing station and arriving station.

Haruka ticket is only from airport to Kyoto/Shin Osaka or vice versa.

If you are going Okayama, have you considered this? Then you don't need to buy ICOCA or HARUKA, since ICOCA and Haruka is covered.

Kansai Area Pass does not cover trip to Okayamam but Kansai WIDE area pass does.

Also, your Kinosaki Onsen is really out of the way...

15 days, i think you can do Tokyo as well....

get yourself a kansai wide pass and go kinosaki onsen AS WELL AS kii-katsura. I spent new years eve in an outdoor onsen pool in kii-katsura watching the new year.

and then you might want to get the kintetsu pass to cover Ise. what is even better than visiting Ise jingu for the new year in Japan? probably nothing.

The other thing Is to lump your further area together to maximize the usage of the wide area pass (okayama, himeji, kobe, onsen etc)
