Company's software cannot work on notebooks with eMMC storage?

So i just found out about this. I am a bit confused and researched and found out that eMMC is something like flash drives used on cameras/phones but some notebooks use that too but since windows 10 can be installed on it why won't the company software run on it. This is what is confusing me here.

It's encryption software called PGP symantec encryption. Dunno la they sent out the circular saying notebooks with eMMC HDD or those using BT keyboards as the only means to input data cannot be encrypted with PGP symantec encryption software so i am just curious what are the limitations of eMMC harddrives vs traditional SATA ones or SSDs.

It's a really cheap notebook cos of the eMMC hdd and i am damn pissed off the circular mentioned the software does not work on it which i am just simply confused/curious as to the reason why.

I'm not an expert in software nor trained in this field.

My guess, the software failed to distinguish the rights/privilege between ring0 and ring3. Or, if software need to access ring0 (I don't see why), it lack the driver for the eMMC controller.

Either that or maybe it does work but the co just put it in/didn't update it.

This sounds like a very technical question and i don't think the IT guys know either they just encypt it and heck care the rest.

It's a damn cheap notebook less than 500 and i'm thinking should i get one with an ssd inside or just simply use this one and get it encrypted and pray that it will work.

Symantec..... Nuff said. Hell recently symantec endpoint protectio(sep) caused some of my company's 2012 servers to soft freeze(can only move mouse cursor cannot even unlock server)......without any logs.

Hi thanks for googling. From the looks of things in the links provided they won't be providing updating for eMMC hdds for a long time to come

Same here, I would avoid anything with the name Symantec and Norton, won't touch it with a 10 yards pole.

The first step to fix any slow/lag/hang laptop/desktop is to clean remove anything related to Symantec and Norton, removing them will fixed 70% of the problem.

But you must use them if working in government department, anything wrong with the system, tell the higher up you already use the "best" software with the biggest name on it, the problem will be worst if using other products.
