Dear all,

If you have any issues or problems pertaining this Starhub promo laptop, C722TU, kindly share it with our fellow members of HWZ? Anyway, it was a long queue to get this. Do get it before 12pm each day if not, the queue can be quite long!

Met my 1st blue screen..... graphics driver (windows update) crashed, recovered by installing the updated one from Intel.... using safe mode. =)

Hi have you tired installing with Xp?

SOme of my applications wont run if it's in vista. Would really like to have it in XP. Call compaq but they told me it's on my own if i wanna do it in XP.

u can do it. provided if u have all the drivers, etc.

Display - Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family
Modems - HDAUDIO Soft Data Fax modem with SmartCP
Network Adapters - Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection
Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC
Sound,video and game controllers :- Conexant High Definition Audio


I am now googling for these drivers for the XP version. Manage to find all of it but not sure if it will work. Will begin the XP installation tonight and see what happens

doing my downgrade from Vista to XP now. only found 4 official drivers from HP website. trying it out now

seems like there's some problems installing the dial up modem and sound card. any butties successfully installed all drivers for XP?

Think you can use the XP drivers for last year StarHub's Compaq V3136TU notebook. Both are using the same Conexant High Definition Audio chip.

As for the dial-up modem, simply disable the device since it won't be of much use any way.

hmmmm..... maybe I'll try that later. but if it still doesn't work, I guess the only option is to email HP tech support for it

OK..I mange to get the audio and modem card to work.

Firstly I did a Windows Update to Windows XP SP2

Then I downloaded the Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture Bus Driver for High Definition Audio from the link below and install it

Next I follow the instruction from this forum below

Select 'no, not this time' when asked to connect to the internet, click next.

Select 'install from a specific location' (advanced), click next.

Select 'Don't search, I will choose the driver to install', click next.

In the list of common hardware types, scroll down and select Sound, Video, and Game controllers, click next.

In the resulting dialogue box, click Have Disk.

Browse to the folder where SP36090 was extracted (e.g. C:\SWSetup\SP36090) and select CpV30D5a.inf, click OK

In the next dialogue, select Conexant High Definition Audio-Venice 5045. If you receive a warning that Windows cannot verify compatibility with this drive, select 'Proceed' or 'Ignore' (or whatever option that allows you to continue installing the driver).

When the driver is finished installing, restart your PC. Do the same thing for the modem, except the extraction folder will be C:\SWSetup\SP36089 and the INF is SprtHD5m.inf.

managed to install the modem

Hi all,

I went back into the orginal install file from compaq and manage to install the modem from the installer that comes with the orginal setup.

U can get all the other applications that comes along with the orginal factory. Its in the C drive. Software folder.

I am able to install the audio but the sound is a bit weird..

what do i need to do?

No problem. It took me quite a while to search the internet for the solution but its all worth it as the laptop is running much faster than before.

Anyway for those who wants to install windows xp on this laptop, you can download the drivers from the link below. I have zip them up and uploaded it to a file hosting server. The size is 24MB. These are the drivers for the motherboard chipset, wireless and display. The NIC card will be automatically detected and installed by Windows XP

Before you perform the installation, please go to BIOS setup and select SYSTEM CONFIGURATION and DISABLE SATA NATIVE SUPPORT. Leave this disable even after you successfully install Windows XP as enabling it will give a blue screen during XP startup

After installing the above. Proceed to update Windows XP to SP2

Next download the Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture Bus Driver for High Definition Audio from the link below and install it

If you still have an 'unknown' PCI device, it is your touchpad and Quick Launch buttons. If you install the software for Quick Launch Buttons, the 'unknown' PCI device will go away, as well.

ALL THE BEST to those who wants to perform the downgrade. Anyway don't delete the recovery portion of the hard-disk in case you want to install vista in future.
