To be frank. 4G coverage is still the best and therefore it gives smooth and realible cell and data connections wherever you are.

5G coverage , long way to go before it reaches the super coverage of the 4G.

I stick to 4G. No more 5G for the near future to prevent my phone keep searching for 5G signal and therefore causes intermittent signal lost it or stuck connectios.

Felt that 1-2 years from now can subscribe to SingTel 5G.

SH, M1 needs another 3 years. SIMBA not sure if they can survive beyond 3 years or be bought over

I kind of feel Singtel 4G coverage got a bit worse than previously, not so sure it is because of the phone used (Poco X4 GT, MTK8100, 8G, 256GB) or because of Singtel.

Previous phone did not seem to have such issue (Realme X50 5G, Snapdragon 765G, 8G, 128GB).

5G was disabled after my 3-month free 5G access expired. And interestingly I only felt a bit of 4G coverage issues after the expire date of 5G access. The main issue is usually in the lift or on the bus.

I will monitor the situation.
Its just like history is repeating itselft when shifting from 3G to 4G
Either they are replacing 4g base station and replacing with 5g base station
or reducing bandwith for 4g and up the bandwidth for 5g

This could be one of the possibilities. Let's see if others have the same findings as well.

Right now I am monitoring this situation since it could also be related to the Poco X4 GT phone.

I believe it's the former because coverage has also gotten poorer. There're fewer LTE base stations around to do aggregation (which is what gave us the higher speeds). I also hypothesise that they may be replacing some (all?) 4G stations with 5G-NSA stations since these will maximise coverage on both 4G/5G for carriers. However, this also means that costs are passed on to us consumers, which implies subscriptions could go up.

It might benefit carriers and consumers if IMDA decided to remove all 3G towers instead and move everything to 4G/5G imo. I suspect there are legacy implementations that depend on GSM, so it holds back that deployment.

IMHO.
Like for Singtel, if they still have the *SEND, they will need 3G.
E.g. Heya.SG started to use *SEND to check usage and buy data plan. It has moved to an APP.

Maybe can look into the frequency bands. Lower frequency penetrates better.

Heard telco like Heya need to go to shop to pay every 30days. Is this true?
Does anyone know which telco allow recurring payment using AXS or Apps by credit/debit card?

Heya.SG used to be like that - need to go shop.
Now you have 2 options
a) on the day of expiry, go Shopee/Lazada and buy the Data Plan for 30-days
b) before the expiry, go to Shopee/Lazada and buy Balance top-up in multiple of $10 (there is a limit) and on the day of expiry, buy the Data Plan using the app.

Have the same problem as you. After the free 3 months of 5G, I felt that my iPhone 14 Pro data connection became 3G. Youtube video not loading well in train like it used to be under 4G. 5G connection was excellent.
