So glad that this issue is finally in the press. I just got my 6s finally replaced last week after more than a month of communicating with Apple support. The engineering team had the cheek to come back to me and gave me the ridiculous request of keeping the phone charging at all times to prevent the shutdown from happening.

For those of you having this problem, don't settle for anything less than a replacement. You paid a premium for Apple products, expect premium service.

Not everyone bought during the launch period.

Anyway, just raising this up for awareness, in case anyone has their phones suffering from this issue. Unacceptable coming from Apple.

I guess any claims against defects within grey area is quite difficult to analyze, perhaps that is why Apple Support may try to recommend a easiest probable solution for the fix. Therefore, onus is on us to insist on a 100% fix especially during warranty period.

Not sure if I may be correct, but I do find QC for the iPhone is slacking for past couple of years.

On a side note, lately I had some issues with my purchases from iTunes Music Store, and Apple Support gave me some ridiculous reply [without any solution] which wasn't helpful at all. I persisted to reject their explanation, and it was eventually resolved amicably after a few weeks of correspondences.

Moral of the story? Fight for what you believe is correct.:)

Did you buy AppleCare+? It makes a lot of difference.

Last Monday, my 6+ got bricked in the iOS 10.1.1 update process. Called up Apple - they verified that it was hardware failure. My replacement 6+ was delivered by Wed.

Yes that is exactly the problem. Also gave me the crap reason that it is a known software issue after more than a month of investigation. I refused to accept the reason. 6s is not a new phone. They knew of the issue for so long and still can't rectify it? To Apple support credit, the support officer was quite sympathetic towards my situation and eventually ordered an exchange for me. The new phone now doesn't have this issue, and the battery life is so much better.

Am waiting for my telco line to expire. Meanwhile I'll keep a power bank handy.

Apple says since I am out of warranty $250.

Yesterday i start having this issue on my iPhone 6, it auto shut down whenever it reaches 40% battery life.
Press the power button, it does not turn on the phone only when i charge the iPhone then it will turn back on.

Wondering could it be battery or ios 8.4 problem ??

i have had a similar auto-shutdown too for my 6s, but so far only happened 1 time. So if the phone is out of warranty, need to pay $250 for repair?

Could be battery problem? My 6s+ also shutdown suddenly and need to charge then can turn on again.

After replacing battery, the phone back to normal.
