it depends on a lot of factors so no.

but assuming your background is clean with no suspicions of wanting citizenship for some temporary "ill gains" for yourself, high chance you will get it one.

maybe the guy dont want to apply for citizenship leh?

No such thing as auto citizenship these days thanks to certain people who think they very clever, all rush to Singapore to give birth here then the child auto Singaporean then since they are mother they also auto Singaporean.

Too much abuse last time so the govt stopped it. Now you are born here also doesn't mean you are Singaporean. Which is good 'cos really got too much trash around.

Here is my story.

I was born in Bangkok, came to Singapore at the age of 3, and was raised here with my parents. My dad is Singaporean while my mum is Thai.

I was only offered PR when i was at the age of 18. Cause i don't see myself going back to Bangkok and start my life there. I don't have friends there, I never study there, neither did i like the life there back then. And since most of my childhood and friends that i have in Singapore, I don't even think of moving back to Bangkok.

I served NS here at 2009. The first thing when i went to BMT Tekong, i was hand over a letter inside the green case that they hand out to all the recruits. It states that during my NS journey, in between i would be given the opportunity to get my citizenship, however based on good "performance".

1.5 years have passed. I was a Transport Operator back then in 1st Transport Battalion. I was not offered any citizenship. I even went through calling MINDEF for my case, every time i called they will just brushed me away and say pending application, i even asked why is my application held back so long? And all they can tell me is that MINDEF is not willing to sponsor. Days have passed, 2 months before i ORD, no news ever came. Till the day i ORD, i was still a PR.

I do not enjoy any kind of benefits as a PR, neither did i have any form of citizenship rights, and it is very frustrating.

So what i did was to call ICA, ICA mentioned that there was no application submitted from MINDEF at all. I was so angry.

In the end i appealed for it, i went to the meet the peoples session for AMK GRC and appeal for my case.

I feel so sad that i sacrificed 2 years of my time, and i was denied citizenship.

So after the appeal, ICA replied and asked me to resubmit my application as a new application. And finally they managed to get hold of MINDEF for my file, and a month later, i was finally given Citizenship.

I think i would like to make it clear to all those young male foreigners intending to take PR in Singapore, you must be aware that, it does not mean that you go through NS in Singapore means you are entitled to get citizenship.

Yet again i pity those whom have spend their time serving the nation, and yet it was not recognise as hard work, and fighting along side with all your NS buddies, and yet was never given citizenship.

I hope that MINDEF can take things seriously, and give citizenship to those whom served NS rather than ICA giving PR and citizenship so easily to other foreigners whom enter Singapore to work. I hope they can review their policy again.

Can apply but not 100% sure get.

If never get, just fight for it, be it appeal to ICA or talk to MP etc.

Eh, if your dad is a singapore citizen, even if you are born overseas, u should be entitled to a Singapore citizen from birth.

Something is fishy here.

Even if that's not the case, if you are born in Singapore to parents who aren't Singaporeans, if not wrong you are entitled to PR from birth also. Further more your dad is a citizen. So I dunno who you only get PR at 18.

About your citizenship, sounds like you unit didn't even submit the application rather than u not being offered.

Nope i wasnt even offered any form of citizenship when i was borned in Bangkok. If i was offered citizenship, my dad would gave gladly make me Singapore citizen rather than Thai citizenship. Cause both my parents would want me to be a Singaporean instead.

I dont know, but it is overall a very unfair world for me. Thats what i felt back then after i ORD. Angry and feeling "used" after all i have done.

My PR friends who have Singaporean Parents (1, usually father) had to apply after NS (didn't hear them say anything about SAF helping them send the application ><) and they got it pretty quick.

Maybe in Roy's case ... rly suay. Can totally imagine the feeling, having lived here for almost your whole life, go through NS and the peeps at ICA/MINDEF give a shitty response ><

Article 122(1) of the CONSTITUTION OF THE REPUBLIC OF SINGAPORE states that:

Citizenship by descent
122.—(1) Subject to clauses (2) and (3), a person born outside Singapore after 16th September 1963 shall be a citizen of Singapore by descent if, at the time of his birth —
(a)
where the person is born before the date of commencement of section 7 of the Constitution of the Republic of Singapore (Amendment) Act 2004, his father is a citizen of Singapore, by birth or registration; and

(b)
where the person is born on or after the date of commencement of section 7 of the Constitution of the Republic of Singapore (Amendment) Act 2004, either his father or mother is a citizen of Singapore, by birth, registration or descent.
(2) A person born outside Singapore shall not be a citizen of Singapore by descent by virtue of clause (1) unless —
(a)
his birth is registered in the prescribed manner at the Registry of Citizens or at a diplomatic or consular mission of Singapore within one year, or such longer period as the Government permits, after its occurrence; and
(b)
he would not acquire the citizenship of the country in which he was born by reason of his birth in that country where —
(i)
in the case of a person born before the date of commencement of section 7 of the Constitution of the Republic of Singapore (Amendment) Act 2004, his father is a citizen of Singapore by registration at the time of his birth; or
(ii)
in the case of a person born on or after the date of commencement of section 7 of the Constitution of the Republic of Singapore (Amendment) Act 2004, either his father or mother is a citizen of Singapore by registration at the time of his birth.
(3) Without prejudice to clause (2), a person born outside Singapore of a father or mother who is a citizen by descent at the time of his birth shall not be a citizen of Singapore by descent by virtue of clause (1) unless the parent who is the citizen by descent has lawfully resided in Singapore —
(a)
for a period of, or for periods amounting in the aggregate to, not less than 5 years before that person’s birth; or
(b)
for a period of, or for periods amounting in the aggregate to, not less than 2 years during the period of 5 years immediately preceding that person’s birth.
(4) A person who, being a minor, becomes a citizen of Singapore by descent shall cease to be a citizen of Singapore on attaining the age of 22 years unless within 12 months after he attains the age of 21 years he takes the Oath of Renunciation, Allegiance and Loyalty in the form set out in the Second Schedule and where the Government so requires divests himself of any foreign citizenship or nationality.

So given your Father is a Singapore Citizen, the question will now be:

Is your father a Singapore Citizen by BIRTH or REGISTRATION. Exact definition of BIRTH or REGISTRATION is best for you to go to that link and read it for yourself.

So if your question is yes to that, than something is fishy.

It's either you have been misinformed from the very beginning which makes you feel unjust, or there are some other criteria you didn't meet.
