I've got an early 2013 MacBook Pro Retina 13" that is having issues charging / booting up.

So far, I've:
1. replaced the DC-in chip,
2. checked my wall socket,
3. clean installed a new OS.

Seems to be an SMC chip issue.

More details on my issue can be found here at my ifixit thread.

Anyone know of any trustworthy Mac capable component level repair shop? Something like Louis Rossmann of NYC?

I misread. My bad.

I don't know if they can do component level repairs. The repairs I requested were all straightforward part replacements.

What work did they do for you? I'm looking for component level repair but they seem to only do part replacements.

Hang on... I do see repair shops up at Sim Lim specializing in Apple products. Some have microscopes on their benches, just like Rossman does. However I do not have any experience with them. You could check them out on the fourth and fifth floors.

Ahh okay. Parts I can replace myself haha. We really need a Louis Rossman in Singapore man.

This is great news! Perhaps I should drop them a visit. Thanks for the info!

Looks like Apple is carrying out its threat to make 3rd party repair more difficult if not impossible. Simple update can ruin brightness control for 3rd party displays

SimLim IDGGallery. They fix my mbp Mid 2012. Got nothing to do 1 day that I decide to add Coolen to my mbp cpu, so I took everything apart of my mbp and when putting everything back, my keyboard is not working. They check and they found 1 broke a connector. They able to replace the original part, but an used parts.
New parts would take a while to ship & cost will be higher.

Thanks for sharing maxheadroom! Yeah lots of repair shops offer part replacement with used parts/donor boards. But I'm actually looking for a repairshop that can do component level repairs. Meaning soldering/replacing microchips/resistors/capacitors.

Not a surprising move by Apple tbh haha. But then again if we replace component, will software be able to detect? It's not like a capacitor or resistor can transmit serial number to tell the board it's not Apple branded...

I am looking for the same. Did you manage to find one?

I check with Macplus recently. They told me they do repair on motherboard. Is that different from components level repairs?
