Hello guys!

Just a little background, I just finished NS, and am awaiting school to start in NTU, I would be studying Computer Science (with little to no prior knowledge in the field) in August, and I have a few questions I need help with...

Recently, my computer (of a few years alr) have been having trouble turning on. Like I press the on button on the CPU, sometimes the monitor doesn't display anything, sometimes I even hear some weird beeps. It's an HP computer, and I have Googled the problem, and I get answers that it is some sort of video card problem... Is that true? And if it is, how much would a decent graphics card cost me? I usually play games like DotA 2 and WoW...

Also, since uni is starting, and I do not have a laptop, I need one for school. Should I buy it when the school sends me the enrollment package with whatever promotions they have for school? Or should I build my own? If I buy from whoever is affiliated with the school, can I modify it so that I can play games?

Sorry for the long post but would definitely appreciate all help! :) Thanks

How many beeps and are the beeps long or short? E.g. 1 long 2 short

Better post your HP desktop model..

Anyway still, you will need a notebook for your uni course...

Haha paiseh ah, I really kind of a computer retard, how to find the rigs/HP model? Anyway it's 2 short beeps and 1 long beeps which repeats for 5 times...

Oh, but if I buy from school will it be suitable for gaming?

If you read my post, I already stated that I did Google and identify that. My question is how much does a decent graphic card cost that can support games like dota 2 and wow...

Zotac gtx750 ~ $169
Zotac gtx750 ti ~ $205

Will support both game , should be able to play wow on high settings, have to factor in ur other specs as well

It's not a big case so there isn't much options on upgrading or changing of gfx , might wan to check whether is there 2 slots of pci expansion for the gtx750

Dota 2 or WoW not really hard to drive. Probably a r9 270 will do. Or a gtx750ti.

Not a fan of buying laptops from school. Usually they MAY sell cheap. During my poly days they have plenty of bloatwares in it which find it useless. Not sure would they still do it.

To game on laptop? No ba. They dont sell any laptops that comes with a good gpu.

Try asking Tech-Dynamic if they can bring in this:

Be careful of the graphic card you buy. Don't buy something that can't fit into your casing.
Take note of the distance between the expansion slot adjacent to the 16x pci-e slot to the furthest object on the way and cross refer to the card you are buying.
