Computer slowed down and keeps hanging

Hi everyone,

I'm a total noob at anything relating to pc or electronics. just recently, my computer started slowing down tremendously to the point where it takes 5 minutes just to get to this forum. I tried reinstalling windows 7 to hopefully get rid of any virus or whatnot and solve the problem, but it didnt work. i am running avast to do a full system scan now and its taking forever. any advice on what to do to get my computer fixed would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like your HDD is the culprit. Try running HD Tune to scan for errors. Disable quick scan settings.

Can try CrystalDisk Info to see your current HDD's SMART status as well.

Maybe you can try to download Advance System Care from cnet.

thanks for the replies! it really helps alot. i am running hd tune now to scan for errors. lets assume there's smth wrong with my hd, how do i solve this? replace it with a new one? and why did this happen?

hd tune doesn't show any error for me
status also no prob
but the hanging just get worse as time passes

i tried doing a quick scan earlier and it showed everything was ok. i am still doing a scan without the quickscan settings, currently only 5 blocks scanned with 36minutes elapsed.

quite confirmed its RAM issue, recently i had changed the HDD and my system still hang occasionally
