Computer sometimes doesn't boot properly

Alright, so far I have noticed this issues.
- When I press the power button on my CPU, sometimes it doesn't boot past the motherboard splash screen. Just stuck there, Del, F8, F12 key all doesn't work.

- Sometimes it get past the motherboard splash screen, but there will be this symbol "_" on the top left corner repeatedly flashing, with a black screen. Same thing, no key works as well.

- During gaming, I may suddenly lose monitor input, no sound coming from headset, shouldn't have any overheating component, GPU has never hit above 73°C.

Only solution for the above 3 was to hard reset, I have to hold down the power button until everything turns off then start it up again.
I have placed my RAM on different slots, GPU on different PCI-E slot, reformatted and reinstalled Windows, send my GPU for replacement though the guy said he couldn't replicate the "loss of monitor input" issue, ran HDTune to check for error on both my SSD and HDD and got back zero errors. I do sometimes hear crackling sound coming from my case, not very loud or persistent, just a few crackle and then it's gone.
Sorry for long post, but I really hope I can get rid of all the above problems.

did you run memtest to verify that the RAMs are working properly?

Well I have never updated the BIOS, and I am pretty sure the only things I modified in the BIOS is increase my RAM speed to 1600MHz and disabled onboard graphic (Intel HD2500).

Yes I do, ran for 6 or 7 run with zero error.

try to drop the speed and see if it goes away

Power supply can also be one of the cause too.

Hmm my fren issue almost similar and it was related to the power button or the power button connection to the board.

i kinda think i know what happened keyword "_ blinking"

is ur harddisk not able to detect. maybe try unplug and plug in again.. check for any melted connector or bad sata cable.

this usually happens with bootable things such as:

CD/DVD in drive that mistaken for bootable.
Secondary harddisk accidentally selected as bootdrive
Faulty sata cable(as zetken said) on primary drive

You can try flashing a new bios to 'correct' the issue or/and set your bios properly.

This is assuming that your hardware is not the issue

Hey guys, the issue is still there. I have updated my BIOS, switched back to default settings and switched to a new SATA cable. Apparently, Action Center in Windows says "Solve a problem with AMD/ATI Driver. So what's the issue now??

May I know what driver is it? Under the VGA section on the motherboard download, there is only "Intel VGA Driver". I suppose that's for the HD2500?

are you using an ATI gfx card?

if yes; reinstall your ATI graphic card via latest download from their website.


If no, you need to check what driver is having the problem via Device Manager

Right click my computer and go properties. then go device manager.

Open all the arrows and find any errors like yellow !

Yup it does. Appeared as "AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series"

I am already using Catalyst Version 13.12. Latest non-beta version. Checked through device manager and nope, no yellow exclamation marks.

Problem is still there. Sometimes monitor just loses input and have to force restart...
