Hi.. looking around for a new computer table..
Where do you guys get ur computer tables?
any recommendations besides ikea? Ikea quality is quite bad for the price they command.

I sort of got an idea how i want my table to be, but i got no idea where to find it.. so i dont mind if you guys know any carpentry shops (good ones) that is able to do customs to intro also..

the drawing is a sketch of what i have in mind for my table .. anyone come across something like this?
Btw, if cant make sense out of the drawing, then the thing in the middle are the two monitors, and by the side of the monitors are speakers, the two stick like thing by the speakers are support for the shelve above.
then on the left bottom side of the table is where i will put the computer case, and the right side are the drawers.

- 160cm length, depth of around 75cm
- tabletop extends further than where the legs are, so i can put my casing under the table, but not where my legs can reach them as its being blocked by the partition of the table's legs supports.
-drawers on right side
- have shelve on top

if u wan wooden table, get the Ikea Galant Desk series and DIY your preferred configuration. If u wan a tempered glass table top, get from vhive, they have lots of 'pre-built' tables for you to play around with.

the Ikea Galant Desk series has tempered glass table top as well, both glass and glass black.
the galant is petty well make, bought the black tempered glass top last year ^^

GALANT Desk - glass black, A-leg, chrome-plated - IKEA

As far as i noe, ikea doesnt have the 'tempered glass' label seal on its tempered glass tabletops. So cant really tell if genuine tempered glass or not. Whereas vhive and other expensive furniture shops have that seal. Coz i think tempered glass comes with a 1 or 2 year guarantee against breakage, since it is made for durability.

It's only stronger against impact on the surface, if you hit the edges very likely to shatter the tempered glass too.

And Ikea's galant series tempered glass tops are clearly labelled as tempered glass under product info.

customization doesnt mean that it will expensive. You can buy a big table (should come with the tower holder) and mix n match with other furniture (like movable drawers which I did that cause my legs tend to injure itself when there are too many stuff bottom of table). It also doesnt mean big names like ikea or vhive offers great price for value.

i have a shop located in neighbourhood markets that I would highly recommend. They are much cheaper in prices and moreover, the materials are much more sturdy than those furnitures sold in other places. i have bought beds, cupboard, tables there and all looks great.

the shop is at teck whye market beside the guardian pharmacy and sheng siong supermarket. just a suggestion.

In a similar dilemma as TS but after some reading, I am thinking of getting a kitchen worktop from Ikea (solid wood) and fixing it onto an Ikea Galant underframe (steel, supposedly sturdy and lasting) and legs. Perhaps TS can explore in this direction? I would think that it should be cheaper than customising. :)

yep, perhaps over the weekends i will go around to see these options.

Ikea,
Neighbourhood stores,
Vhive.
imm..

and to the bro above above who asked, it is for home use..

i came across this table which is a better idea of something i want. and with a few additions/changes, like a longer version, maybe without keyboard tray ( just one flat tabletop) and a drawer by the side ( which i believe can get as addon individually) then this table will be near perfect..

but sadly its a no longer in production model, the ikea jerker.

the shelf you can just fix an additional attachment?

the L-shape table looks very common. probably can get in vhive or ikea. Not exactly the same but fairly similar.

just thought i report back with a update..

2agwajq.jpg

got this self assembled table from ikea.

Know a little messy on the cables, yet to really give time to tidying them up.

"TORLINDEN" table top, and 4 x adil legs for a total of $89.

hmmm, after fixing, table was a little shaky, seems like one of the legs didnt really fully touch the ground, applied one of the bumpons on the feet and issue was settled.

Other then that, happy for now.. :)
In future if need more desk space, i will add a "LAIVA" side desk to make my own L shape, although they do have a corner shape table of 120cm x 120cm , and another series "GALLANT" that have a real L shape 160cm x 120cm table.. but that will cost $319.
