Computer turning off by itself (no power)

hi gurus, my newly DIYed com has been switching off by itself.

basically it justs turns off, and cant be turned on anymore. If i try to turn it on immediately, the GPU lights and whatever lights in my com does flicker (like power being given but cant fully boot up kind) and then blacks out again.

Does it sound like a PSU problem or lack of power of the PSU?

specs-
6700k
zotac 1080
1 SSD
1 HDD
2 sticks of ram
powered by 650W gold seasonic PSU

sorry bro, you mean doesnt sound like PSU spoilt or doesnt sound like PSU no power?

btw i also changed power cable, and remove any power extension cord

PSU spoil is really si beh suay. that psu should be more than enough for your rig leh.

the ram leh? try using only 1. sometimes it's defective ram. but if u already eliminated ram as a possibility, u got a backup psu to test if the mobo is working?

did OC as well? and how long since u build and it start showing this issues?

on the same day i built, which was on sunday itself, it happened.. no OC at all

today is day 3, each day happened once.

suspect u might have forgotten to put mobo stands though. or the cpu cooler too tight (not sure if u using stocks or 3rd party), if not ur mobo is spoil?

anyway whats the mobo u using?

Confirm is not PSU not enough power,

Try what others said first (1 ram/ reseat heatsink etc) though I wouldn't rule out PSU fault.

using msi z170 pro gamer

CPU cooler seems fine, temp is fine, just adjusted to be safe

mobo stands all on, i counted all as I screwed in one by 1

it shut down as if it has no electrical current at all

When it shuts down, i cant boot it immediately if try so.
Instead, it will just give a short burst of power enough to light up the GPU lights, and the cooler lights, fan, then die off.

Seems like capacitor still holding enough power just to do that then die kind of look. Not so much of an electrical person, so not sure how to explain.

Then i will have to wait awhile, turn off the main power and switch it on, then i can start it again with no problems.

Try another PSU? Seasonic PSU is known for power on issue.

the other day someone mentioned their 12v rail was loose, check all connections again?

I googled about seasonic psu problems, and indeed, I have the same issue as many other users have.. I guess I have to get it replaced.. what a waste of time to get down to the office

Bobianz,i too took my fsp psu down to chaichee for exchange and i live in the north. Use 1 year nia up lorry liao.

Just went to SLS to change, they allowed me to top up to a superflower 750 gold, no questions asked.

works like a charm so far.. indeed is the stupid PSU
