Hi, need some help here with different phone model of huawei. I'm intending to get the new samsung note, but got some intro to consider huawei phones, which was said to be better in term of values and spec.

I got slightly lost with their different model type of phones.
They had like P20 mate10 notes honor10 all different type of phones. Their spec looked pretty similar with each having edge against each other like camera, os, rams, battery, etc.
Is they like a model which is slightly better than all others?
e.g Iphone X > Iphone10, Samsung note > s-series.

Price is not a matter. Main consideration is Playing mobile games (Speed, Battery life, Temp), taking photos. Heard huawei phones are great in this aspect.
I'm using another phone for work, thus it's not big of a security concern to me.

Get the mate RS. It's good in all aspects.

Thanks for the intro. It really looked great in all aspect. Only downside is not really value for the cost. 2.3k is really hefty for a phone that doesnt provides a lot of upgrade against a samsung note 9 releasing soon. I'm willing to spend, but not willing to be treat like a carrot.
But, it really do looked attractive with the porsche design attractions.

Huawei brand is more flagship level models.

Latest model is the p20 and p20 Pro.

Mate 20 expected to launch, hence mate 10 is great value at $500 plus.

Honor is the mid range level models.

Whats the view on P20 pro & Mate 10 pro?
What about the upcoming note10 and mate20 pro?

I see similarities on both choice and nothing very game changing.

Anyway, is huawei phones good for long usage (reading/listening song) and playing games?

P20 pro is latest model

P20 Pro (and P20) is the latest flagship model from Huawei launched early this year. It has 3 camera set up so definately more advanced that Mate 10 pro which was launched in 2017.

Huawei P20 pro is definately at par with Samsung Galaxy S9 plus and actually ahead in terms of camera (especially night mode) and is cheaper by ~$150-200 right now vs. S9 plus for the 128GB model. Note though that P20 Pro does not have 3.5mm audio jack and also does not support wireless charging.

Honor brand is Huawei's mid range brand.

Big point of difference the upcoming Note 9 will have is the stylus (unique selling point of Note series) but it will be also ~$150-200 dollars expensive vs. P20 pro (Note 9 price in SG is not official yet).

well basically almost all huawei phone are like this just some minor changes, with some are better aspects in certain areas.

so far for some reviews said that its decent battery life but dun expect that u dun need to charge for 2 days with those usage for long hours.

Not forgetting speed charging: abt 50% in 1/2 hr. Huawei top line phones are good.

Been quite sceptic about china phone. But recent reviews of user are quite good on this.

Just a dilemma between getting Honor note 10, Wait a while and get Samsung note 9 or wait for Mate20 Pro near the end of the year. Or just get Mate RS immediately.

You don't need to be skeptic about Huawei. They are not a small company. They might be overtaking Samsung.. =:p

Looking at it, i will settle with a mate 20 pro comes november i guess.
Or i might just get note 9 first and get mate 20 comes november when the dust clear.
Thanks for the introduction guys.

Just a quick question.
Whats the tier list of huawei phone?
I see that P series, Honor notes, Mate series, Nova all looked similar. There doesnt seems to have a clear cut definition, only differ is the newer the phone, the better it is. Price wise also. (eg samsung got S/Notes series> A/J series, no matter what, within the "era" the s/note will always be better)

After Google for the past few days,
i assumed that:
Huawei P is similar to Samsung S
Mate is similar to Notes
While nova is the similar but better series of samsung A and J series.
Where do all differ Honor series comes in? They do looked like the mid-tier phone price with better specs. But they looked way better sometimes.

btw, is huawei UI ok? Saw a lot of reviews about it not being perfect.

Yep the model tier is more or less what you had mentioned

Personally I use the p20 pro and the camera is crazy good. Especially in low lights environment and all. Battery life is also good. Normal usage at work with some fb and WhatsApp and coc can last me whole day with 40% or more by end of the day.

Gaming wise, I play pubgm and it still lags and stutter at some points. So I set the graphics to lowest and smoothest. Lose out on quality but at least I don't stutter and lag during battles.

For the OS, I don't like Emui as I'm a fan of stock android. I came from the Sony camp. So I use tesla launcher to give me a better feel from the home screen, but rest of the OS is still Emui 8.1

But there's still themes and all, so it should be fine.

Huawei flagship is more toward the branding just like Samsung or others .. not much $$ saving .. just if u think if it is worth the same as those non China brand or not.

Honor is for value if that is what ur looking for .. Honor 10 is like the mini version for P20, Honor 9 for P10 .. but the $ diff is significant with same core HW ..

Huawei/Honor has launched ard 10 models tis year with its Kirin 970 across diff tiers- same core HW with slight diff camera HW, ID and SW features ..

Its GPU and CPU Turbo - tweak on its SW do improve its performance and gaming but still way to go to be on par with typically SD845 , perhaps its incoming Kirin 980 can close the gap .. if ur fans of game goes for phone on SD845.

O guess I'll settle with Mate20 Pro when it comes out. Will be a upgrade from Note. A big fan of Large screen phone, thus, my choices are very limited. I mainly used Samsung Notes only. The only differ i see between Mate 20 against the rest of the phones is Kirin980 vs SD845 and Amoled vs Qhd+ screen which mate loses, the rest it trump over samsung. The almost bezel-less screen, cameras,Turbo, battery, etc are mostly on mate side.
K980 are mostly unknown atm.

The only concern I've with huawei is security concern. There's always report from West and India about secruity monitoring by china on their phone.
