ok let me start by saying that i am not an audiophile. I know really little about audio stuff and i need to ask you guys some questions. pls help :(

1) my speakers have no sound when i plug them to my motherboard. I use B85 killer. However, my speakers work when i plug them into my monitor, which is connected to my pc with hdmi. [i have tried going into volume mixer and changing the device but it still does not work]

2) why are there so many audio jacks on the motherboard? are they just for multiple audio components??

3) i dont really need an amp/dac, but is there something i can get to put on my desk so i can adjust the volume of my speakers easily? but current cheapo speakers only have a volume knob on the subwoofer, but its on the floor.

Thanks for all your help!!!!

1. HDMI carries video and audio signal. So if ur pc is connected to monitor and ur monitor has 3.5mm output, then by connecting ur speaker to monitor, u will hear sound. Did u install the drivers? You should be connecting to your mobo audio ports. DId u connect to the correct holes?

2. Ur mobo has support for 5.1 system. Do read the manual as to which you should be connecting ur speakers to.

3. Vol control is a little hard since u need to integrate into ur speaker system. So, bo bian, use windows to control.

i made some assumptions here:
firstly, ur comp already has driver installed in place, and able to play audio previously.

jus some add-on to what shadow84 has already mentioned,
read the manual and plug into the correct ports.

your speakers i guess should be using a single 3.5mm audio jack, and this cable has to be connected to the headphone jack at the back of your motherboard.

and also make sure in the system, by right clicking the speaker icon at the taskbar, and select playback devices.
see if the correct device is set as default.

this pic shows that u can check which playback device is set as default

if u double click that device, u can see which port your speaker is plug into.

my guess is that you most likely have to plug into the headphone port.
