Confused for the interview coming, need a help.

I am poly graduated student with GPA 4.0. In this year, I applied for mechanical course in NUS. I just now got an interview for admission. I am quite confused that my poly result need a interview for mechanical course? Or the interview normally for scholarship chance.

And who attend the NUS interview before? can give me some tips, thx

I guess you are a foreigner without O level, u should be glad that they still grant you an interview as I know a lot foreigners with very high GPA being rejected by NUS including those with O level.

For the interview, different courses have different structure. so probably u need to ask them how the interview goes. if it is just a short interview, they might just ask questions related to the course u applying for to assure u are suitable for that course. all the best!

ok, did they ask you to go for discretionary interview? if yes, i dun think it would be a simple chat. they will really ask questions that can find out whether u are good enough to offer you a place. so be prepared for it. 1) course related knowledge 2)personal achievement (including leadership) other than academic part 3)your passion

Yes, it is discretionary interview. In singapore, how to understand discretionary interview. who will be in this shortlist, the website says people with sports talent or leadership. But I am not, just student with high GPA

Fun fact 2: Both Bill gates and Mark Zuckerburg is from havard before dropping out. I don't think ordinary people just happen to enter havard.

I am not saying there is no talent in C students, just that there are more at A students making a GPA 4.0 more likely to be a talent than other students.

Its common to have interviews these days for uni.

The professors just want to see your passion and whether you are right fit for the course, especially when you fail to meet certain requirements.
