my trip is 13 days, but i doubt i need to get the 14 days pass, maybe a 7 days will do? It's Flexible pass right?

Define flexible? 7D JR Pass simply means unlimited rides for 7 consecutive days, no Nozomi trains. Shinkansen and JR local trains.

Your itinerary is quite similar to mine. Instead of purchasing a JR Pass which will cost $344 for 7-days I decided to catch a domestic flight from Tokyo to Osaka which is about $250 on ANA. The JR Pass is worthwhile only if you make full use of it. Else may be better off using the IC card like SUICA, PASMO or ICOCA.

Anyway, you can actually visit JTB Travel at Ngee Ann City to work out your route and get good advice from the consultants on the itinerary, purchase of JR Pass, hotel accommodation, etc. Just jot down all your questions and get them answered there. Cheers!

Well, if TS is gonna arrive and depart from Tokyo then the JRP would be worth it..If arriving Tokyo and departing from KIX then no point getting it..

TS: Just make sure if 7D JRP, complete the return journey from Tokyo-Osaka/Kyoto-Tokyo within the time frame..

What i did the other time was on my way back from Kyoto, i drop off at Mishima Station, took a express liner to kawaguchiko and stayed for a night..

Definitely no need get 14 days one. 7 days is consecutive days.

It also depends on how long you spending in each city. Whether are you returning back to Tokyo before the 7 days end. Because the train ride that will make this pass worthwhile is the round-trip bullet train between Tokyo to Osaka/Kyoto.

Mt Fuji - if you are intending to go lake kawaguchiko, i will recommend you to take bus instead of train.

If you haven't book your flight, best is fly in from Tokyo, fly out Kansai (vice versa also can). most straight forward liao.

I booked my flight in and out of Tokyo already. quickly book before the promo gone. $830 on ANA during Christmas and NY Season.

confirm i have to come back to Tokyo HND to catch my flight out.

The problem is the Japan Rail Pass cannot use on the nozomi shinkansen right? other shinkansen can use? Or is it worth it to just get single way tickets!

Take Hikari. Next fastest. Good to have a JR Pass if you could plan your trip to Osaka and Kyoto within 7 days.

Anyway i think the time difference for Nozomi and Hikari is like 15mins ish diff only. so you're not losing much. Definitely not worth buying single trips. With the JR pass, you can use within the cities' JR lines which can get you to major tourist attraction.

Use Hyperdia to do a rough costing & you'll know. Like others mentioned, just have to plan your multicities trips within the 7 days. what i did that time was i chiong to osaka on 1st day, then went back to tokyo after that. Instead of splitting tokyo into 2 parts.

Come to think of it, i rarely see any discounts are offered to senior citizens in jp. The highly aging society could be the reason. In fact in jp, they should be rewarding the young families or children so that their population decline can be checked.
