Confused with IPPT windows

I'm somewhat confused with how the IPPT window works when RT is involved.

So, I failed my IPPT test during the window of Year 2015/2016. In the window of Year 2016/2017, I've to complete 20 sessions of RT before my birthday.

Then, during one of my RT sessions, I passed my IPPT test. Great, I've cleared the window of Year 2015/2016.

The next part is what that confuses me. Now, when I log into the NS portal, it says "Your next IPPT window will open on 16 October 2017." So this sounds like they are referring to the window of Year 2017/2018, which makes sense because that's when the upcoming window will start.

But what about the (current) window of Year 2016/2017? Do I still have to take another IPPT test for the window of Year 2016/2017?

I can still book IPPT on the portal. However, it says "Please be advised your next IPPT window opens on 16 October 2017, any bookings made before this date will be for your current window." What does this mean? Have I already completed my current window of Year 2016/2017? Do I still have to take another IPPT for this window or I can wait until the window of Year 2017/2018 then take?

Yr 15/16 - You failed IPPT

Yr 16/17 - You did 20 RTs (regardless whether u passed in any of your RT-IPPT or not as the requirement to clear window is upon completion of 20 RTs).

It should therefore, be noted that you have already cleared your 16/17 (current) window which explains why your next window to clear shall be 17/18.

This explains why your NS portal reflects that your next window "opens on 16 October 2017", and this refers to your 17/18 window.

Nevertheless, you are still welcomed to book any IPPT session on or before 15 Oct 2017 in order to qualify for any incentives only.

congratulations.

IPPT cycle is base on your birthday & not SAF FY (1 Apr this year to 31 Mar next year) which I suspected that it had confuse you.

Seriously? So I can basically fail (or don't take at all) in Window Year #1 and then pass an RT test in Window Year #2 to clear both windows one shot? I didn't know about this! Sounds like a better deal, doesn't it? :s13:

Yes this is exactly how it works and also how it used to work long ago

Basically you only need to pass IPPT once every 2 years, or clear 20 sessions of IPT/RT in 2 years

This is done to reduce the workload on NSmen. It was like this all the while until they changed it to a 9 month IPPT window and 3 month RT window before, and it was horrible. Few managed to clear 20 sessions of RT in 3 months and the FCCs are also packed full of people. There were many people complaining that they are unable to book RT slots to meet their requirements and had to call their unit for extensions

Seeing how hopeless sinkies are at keeping themselves fit for NS, the PAP had no choice but to revert to the old system which was easier to clear and less taxing on resources

It can also be considered as correct to pass IPPT every 2 years. Because on every alternate years which u failed to satisfy your window, u are to perform 20RTs in which u can exit on the earliest 8th RT session if u pass your RT-IPPT.

however, to get into RT will be required to be informally charged by your unit. First time probably nothing much but from the second time onwards you will be asked to report to camp or CMPB.

to save the trouble and to at least get yourself fit.. complete your 10 IPT sessions.

You got so dumb?

You cleared 2 IPPT windows with just one IPPT pass didn't you?

You can achieve the same effect if you booked an IPPT instead of RT and pass it. Not sure if you are allowed to book IPPT when you are supposed to do RT, I was never in that situation. But you can always do your IPPT during reservist and pass and clear 2 windows with one pass
