I have a 2011 FHD 21.5" iMac and like to connect to my big hdmi tv to watch movies. Can I use the adaptor as show?

You should be able to but I think you have to install the driver for the J5 create adapter before it can work.

I have a J5 create ethernet adapter for my Macbook Air and I need to install the driver for the adapter before it can work.

Thanks for replying.
Actually I have already have one at home (quite old). I plugged it in accordingly. The top right bar did detect the second screen (my Sharp QUATTRO TV) but on the TV screen it says incompatible signals received

Maybe this happened because I do not have the driver?

since when mac or iMac has a lightning port? Maybe he is referring to iPad or iPhone. Or he is referring to thunderbolt port

I think he is mistaken, it should be thunderbolt port. And yes, there is a thunderbolt port, should be thunderbolt 1. It is 2nd from the right, next to the ethernet port. And 3rd from the right should be a firewire.

Yeah, been connecting my Mac devices to external monitors/tv/projectors for the longest time, never once had the need to install driver.

Alternative to an adapter, just get a mini display port to hdmi cable. Might be cheaper than the adapter. Any brand of cable will work fine.

I bought it from Mustafa, and it worked perfectly. Except I don't know how to toggle to have my TV screen on only & my iMAc screen off (dark).

I was able to have the sound only from my TV (I think that's the easy part)...
