Is it possible for one not to go through the hazzle of exiting the airport just to hop on another airlines' flight?

Eg,
I book return tickets to fly to say barcelona from singapore through Airline X, and book tickets to fly to Norway from barcelona throught Airline Y.

Is it possible to directly board the plane at barcelona without going through checks and whatever process or possible to shorten the process such that I can go and board the flight to Norway faster?

Any luggage issues?

My only experiences is that my onward journey involves a flight from a different terminal, so bo bian have to take luggage, then check-in again.

Most likely unavaoidable. Airport & airlines require re-check in & immigration checks if ticket are bought separately.
Unless there is some sort of partnership between Airline X & Y, that enables baggage through-check & issuing of boarding passes for each other.

If both airlines have link to each other ...
For example:
Australia to Sin via quatas
Sin to BKK via Jetstar
Ppl who have paid extra would have to go out of the arrival hall.
he just need to go to transit corner and get boarding pass for new flight

If he doesnt pay extra for the service, he needs to clear immigration
collect his luggage, then queue at the check in counter
just take it as new flight again
then take boarding pass, check in ur luggage
go into immigration again , then go to your new boarding gate ...

Thank people for the replies, I have checked the airlines, no links. Their partners airlines doesn't include each other.
Guess the long routine it is.

Firstly, upon the first check-in, ask the check in agent if they can thru check you and your bags. If they can, your bags can be most likely checked thru to the final destination. Whether they can issue you the onward boarding pass is another matter.

Print out your full itinerary, such that you have proof of onward journey. Some airports will allow you thru to transit instead of exit if you have proof of onward journey. Then proceed to the transfer desk and get your onward boarding pass, and let them know of your checked luggage if possible. Only thing here is if you have checked baggage, if they can go pick it up for you at the belt and re-tag for you, if SIN cannot tag it all the way for you.

So print out all your flight details. At SIN, let the check in agent know that you have an onward flight from Barcelona to Norway and give them the print out. They will do what they can. If they can thru-check your bags to Norway, good. If they can even give you the boarding pass for Barcelona to Norway, even better.

When you reach Barcelona, they should be splitting passengers into entering the country and those transiting. Whatever the case in SIN, go to transit passengers and show the boarding pass (if you have), or the e-ticket etc that you have printed out. They should allow you through. There, you would probably just have to clear security (instead of go in and out of immigration and customs, plus security).

Go to the transfer desk and look for your onward airline for Barcelona - Norway. Pass them whatever you have gotten at SIN (boarding pass, luggage check slip etc) and your proof of onward journey etc. They will issue you all the required documents.

u have to be ensure that your first flight doesnt have any delay
else would be very risky ...
cox usually the second airline wont take responsibility, as you are not flying on their same company flight ....

Which airlines are you taking?
Please search for interline agreement. Your checked baggage is probably most important issue here. Unless you can do without checked baggage.

my encounter via SQ to Frankfurt then via Luthansa to Rijeka. Luggage was tagged to final destination and both boarding pass issued during checkin.

It actually will depend on the airport capabilities and airlines agreement. Your ticketing agent may not be able to confirm but best is to check with the airline.

But for sure, if service is offered by budge, you will need to pay for it.

Thank. It's by competing airlines actually so I guess I just have to do the whole routine. One of them is budget anyway.

This was something I'm concerned with too. There is a 4 hour gap for one connecting flight which I'm thinking should be enough. Those lesser than 3 hours, I don't think I can or wanna try. :s22:
