Connecting laptop to TV

Hi all, not sure if this is the correct place to post this.. Im requesting for some help here.. Im trying to connect a laptop to my tv for my dad to watch his movies.. this is what i got..

My tv also has a S-video input..

I think i got the wrong cables for the connection.. Do i need another converter? or do i need to buy another cable? pls advise..

It's correct, connect it to the Component-in. That's why you have a green/blue/red cable and the component in has a green/blue/red jack for the video.

i did that, but when connected the tv shows a distorted picture.. not moving no nth de.. den my other new tv shows "wrong resilution".. but i tried all possible resolutions n all dont work..

Sounds like you need to change the output resolution of your PC. In your display properties, try changing the resolution settings for "External Monitor".

hmmm... i tried thru the extire range of resolutions but it dont work lei.. mine is samsung tv..

what your Samsung Model no, if you have the user manual it shd state inside
