Hello experts! I bought what i thought was a sealed brand new Singtel prepaid SIM card for my elderly parent yesterday. When i downloaded and wanted to verify Grab app, i learned the number is already in use and is tied to an email address that does not belong to me or anyone in my family! Was i conned or is it an honest mistake which perhaps is hardware/software related?

it means the number has been recycled or reused by Singtel. so the old owner of the number had it registered with Grab

Just contact Grab.

I believe they can un-associate that number to the email address since you are the new owner of the number.

Just provide a proof of your identification.
