Thinking of getting it from Amazon

Sort of worried as first time shipping such an expensive item via forwarder.
I was wondering if there will be any problem with custom and warranty issues.
i intend to use it for like at least the next 6 years.
Tempted to buy from Amazon as SG does not have latest models and this is significantly cheaper than locally.
i am also worried about price drop during black Friday but unlikely as this is a new model.
Any comments would be appreciated.

Just a note that there is no local warranty coverage for dell laptops bought from overseas. Dell warranty are regional

SG dell have this..search for inspiron 7000 15 inch,cost about sgd1800 with 6700hq

malaysia dell also carries it,basic model is about rm3699 with 6300hq,4gb ram and 1tb hdd

for amazon black friday,i don't think price will go down as they already discounted it to usd799

Dell Singapore do carry this Inspiron 15 7000 (7559) but the price in Amozon is cheaper by ~S$500 with no local warranty.

I think it is a good price if warranty is not a concern to you, then can consider use saved $500 to DIY upgrade to better hardware like SSD, RAM etc. :D

the amazon set comes with 256gb ssd and 8gm ram already
Singapore set cost more for the touchscreen and better processor but comes with 1tb hdd
may be better to buy in malaysia if you have an address there

i am currently living in malaysia and i have pre-ordered the i5 model here.

I will be moving to singapore on december for higher studies.

according to dell staff, this laptop will have 2yrs Onsite warranty and it is valid for singapore as well. I just have to call them and register my singapore address when i relocate there.

wow thats great to hear especially when the highest spec is about sgd1500 after conversion which cost 1899 in SG
but it might be good if you can confirm with SG side as previously i read X company whom supposedly has first year international warranty but local distributor doesn't honour it because its not sold by them

Updates: I got it from Amazon at 799usd. Then when it price dropped to 759usd, contacted customer service and got refunded 40usd. Inside, the ssd is m2 slot while there is space for a normal SSD. The 8gb ram brand is Hyundai Electronics.

So far so good,no problem yet.

gain city is selling the dell 7447, the 14 inch version at about 1.2k sgd. tempted though....

this model seem to be only sold in malaysia dell website, but was discontinued from their website recently. 2 mths back it was still listed

nevertheless, this PC show dealers here might bring in this 15 inch dell basic gaming laptop.

I used vpost although many ppl would advise against it. My area singpost guy still ok, but I bought the Vcare (insurance) anyway. The chargeable weight is 6.2kg.

If you are getting it, please read the issues of this laptop in the Amazon reviews.

Bump to old thread to say I bought this model from Courts expo last weekend (14 May 2016). Got the upper spec $1899 i7-6770HQ model as per the Dell website with the 4K UHD touch screen.

Negotiated down to $1630 with the Dell promotion of Logitech G402 mouse. Expo promo of Dell branded backpack.

Still unsure what the Battery Protection on the screen means, but it does have the premium on-site warranty included. So far so good. Also upgraded the SSD with a Samsung 850 Evo 2M for $145 from Funan. Now just waiting to see if can get 32gb of RAM in there or if max really is 16GB.
