That lane quite open. From far should be able to see old uncle riding bicycle.

She must have increased speed hope the uncle will back off but uncle did not back off and result in the fatal accident

The driver failed to keep a proper look out and was going above the speed limit. This type of driver should be kept off the road.

Exactly. Shouldn't give her a light sentence, like slap on the wrist. No eye to see our law nowadays

Usually the cyclist will stick out his hand ... expect cars to give way....

as a driver myself, I will slow down and let the cyclist overtakes. It is too much of a trouble to hit a cyclist on a road.

Read the article before you post?
Sometime before 4:35pm, Lua was driving on the second rightmost lane of the road at around 53km/h to 64 km/h.

The speed limit of Outram Road is 60 km/h.

Meanwhile, the man was riding a bicycle diagonally across the road from left to right.

Prosecutors said Lua's view of the bicycle was initially obscured by a white minibus on the next lane to her left.

After crossing the minibus, the bicycle encroached into Lua's lane.

Lua swerved right and braked, but ended up colliding with the cyclist, which threw him off his bicycle.

Cyclist irresponsibly cut multiple lanes into the direct path of an car. What has that got to do with the driver? Why fine and ban driver.. They expect driver to drift like fast and furious?
As this accident happened in 2023, I suspect the charge then comes with a mandatory 8 years driving disqualification.

The new bill that come into effect this year in June has removed the mandatory part and give the judge the power to decide on the appropriate punishment. However, this bill will only take effect on accidents that happened from this year June onwards.

Hmmm

Many people cross there

Old man probably crossed using his bicycle

But despite bicycle he wasn't fast

I seen old people using PMA to cross like 4 lanes but VERY slow and cars have to stop for him

So what happened was these old people thought the cars will make way for them

He was wrong
