It's amazing that so few people know about basic theory despite having pass the test. Maybe should check if the test is effective or have refresher test for everyone every 5-10 years? ;)

there r still many ppl who insist that u can go above speed limit on lane 1

It's amazing everyone watched the same video yet sees different things. Argue high and low but the cyclist still alive. 😄😄😄

Good idea and would be fair too.

Counting complete ( ignoring initial fade in and final shortened marking near crossing) dashed markings, the car was doing around 36km/h at the start of the clip, slowing down through out the whole duration to around 21km/h well before the stop line.

Counting the black/white kerb marking, which matched on the straight but might be a bit inaccurate at the curve, he was slowed to ~16km/h when the cyclist front wheel initially reached the pedestrian island.

Which means he was actually slower than the cyclist heading into the final part of this incident :s13:

So as far as the clip shows, he was well within the speed limit of the road and slowed down as required to a safe speed.
21km is very fast. From my experience, most drivers do less than 10kmph from far. They don't last min drop the speed. Need to measure the distance they start to drop speed also

21 km/h approaching a crossing is very slow already when there does not appear to be any pedestrians planning to cross. From the perspective of the driver, this was the situation.

Less than 10km is when we can see pedestrian approaching or already crossing.

Chiu got learn basic theory? Zebra crossing, pedestrian has right of way - meaning, it's green light for them. They can dash across, it's their right. Bicycle is considered pedestrian.

Really, need to get all motorists to go and retake basic theory. So many people don't know, they need to slowdown and even stop at the zebra crossing line. 😅
Yes yes you are right! Please continue to dash across. You have the right of way. Don’t back down!

You mean LTA? No mah....now dont have. No need to dismount. Many years ago there used to be, same for bicycle licence plates, many years last time have. Like last time RZ, now is ERP.
I think the rule still stands. Unless it is a crossing for bikes.

Already mentioned, no need to dismount, Just do any quick google....

However, while crossing zebra crossings or green/red man signalised crossings, they have to cross at walking pace speeds. Which , of course for this case and also in another more recent 2nd case, both cyclists did not do so.
I am a cyclist myself (20-25hrs per week, ie rather high) and i also detest cyclists dashing across crossings be it red/green man or zebra crossing and spoiling the market for everyone.
Coz for sure if this continues and there are serious / fatal accidents, they will mandate back the Dismount and Push regulation.

ps. Im a cyclist, runner, walker as well as driver too. Drove for over 15 years. So i see things from all angles.
Some runners also jokers too, run across pedestrian crossings and wearing all black in the early morning/night and very few are decked out in lights.

Key guidelines in the code of conduct include always giving way to pedestrians on footpaths and shared paths; slowing down and being prepared to stop when approaching high pedestrian-traffic areas such as bus stops; and always stopping and looking out for traffic before crossing pedestrian crossings at walking speed.

Actually, I always stop at the junction, as a pedestrian, but early in the morning, 1 out of 5 cars will not stop even if you stop at the zebra crossing staring at the driver. You basically need to force yourself forward to use your body to stop the car. This is the state of affair today.

Yes, some of the car drivers also a bit ** one. Nowadays i find lesser gracious fellas around. But then i was driving from 1997 till before 2015, so the state of affairs definitely have changed.
So definitely any user of crossings, be it runner, brisk walker, cyclist or normal pedestrian just trying to get ard, need to really look before crossing.

Remember that last year the stats numbers also went up, more jialat.

This is what I'm trying to say. Yes, cyclists and pedestrians should stop before crossing if there are incoming vehicles. But the question is should they stop and walk or cycle across only when the car has stopped? So there's a lot of grey area. Or perhaps, maybe they should install cameras to monitor zebra crossing to catch cyclists or motorists that don't stop? Nowadays all the talk about AI, surely, they can use AI?

The driver didn't stop, no intention to stop until the bike is in the middle. Then cyclist panic looking at the driver who had no intention to stop.
oh it's you again, you still haven't share your comments my previous comment
how come you avoided sharing what is in front of the cam car and what the bicycle is lying on?
video showed clearly:
  1. car stopped and zebra crossing clearly visible in front of car
  2. cyclist stopped beyond island on the tarmac, so who did not slow and prepared to stop?
  3. got some simple analysis by another forumer that car slowed down more than cyclist
  4. cyclist dropped his bicycle on the zebra crossing
why you still trying to paint a different story from what's shown on the video? :s13:

the other thread, cam car stopped and cyclist did not slow to stop fast enough, the defenders try to paint until is cam car no intention to stop etc; this time round what will be the reasons and excuses? the expressway tunnel opened up and swallowed the cyclist, so is also always something else's fault but cyclist not at fault? :s13:
