it's really strange why it seems like majority of taiwanese think that won't happen and they are not really concerned.

Or they think as Taiwanese, even if that happens, they can and should put up a good fight.

But that equates to immense loss of lives and wealth. Tens of thousands could perish in such a scenario. Being such a small island with no hinterland, all foreign funds and businesses will be withdrawn. Taiwan will be set back 30 years.

Their residents don't seem to be scared of that scenario?

Why? Cos naive? Got too much confidence in themselves and their US, EU "friends"?

Because I did rather die a Taiwanese than become a Tiong, if they will invade they will invade.

As long as keep the status quo and not call for independence outright, CCP will keep using Taiwan as their negotiation tool with the West. If they invade then they have no more tool to negotiate what they need.

So CCP needs to maintain the threat but not really invade, Taiwan just needs to stop short of calling a full independence.

And Taiwanese lead a generally better living condition than most of Tiongs, so what's there to be afraid of, at least can put food on table for now.

I don't think so, probably there's more Taiwanese, but maybe mostly based overseas like I am, because the domestic ones cannot understand English forums lol.

But before others say oh because I'm not living in Taiwan so it's easier for me to say that, which is definitely a factor but all my relatives also the same thinking.

If really kena hoot, at least unlike Tiongs, we don't kena hoot by our own government, but a foreign invader. At least we don't need to worry over our own government. Can't say the same for the Chinese citizens cannot afford to do anything wrong later kena from their own boss.

China can easily entice Taiwan citizens to support a closer relationship with China instead but they chose to bully them constantly.

Why everything is US' fault? Russia invade Ukraine also US fault, when Russia chose to invade. US didn't support or ask Ukraine to invade into any parts of Russia, it was Russia invading into Ukraine's land.

China now antagonising all the neighbours in SCS, but also US fault?

Taiwan is forced to be USA's lapdog because it's scarier to be controlled by China, so blame US or blame China that even Chinese don't wanna side with Chinese. Don't blame China's problems to US, when they could have used other ways to try and resolve differences.

If China was the world #1, they would be doing the same thing as what US is doing to maintain #1 position.

USA is far from innocent, but don't blame every other countries' fk up as US' fault.

Bo bian, but also China helped quite a few Taiwanese tycoon to make a lot of money as well, to base their operations in China, eg Foxconn.

If CCP wasn't so harsh and aggressive, it could have made Taiwan and China closer, if they were more friendly and over time may make Taiwanese more ok with China.

The anti-CCP is caused by CCP themselves, not USA. But then CCP supporters keep thinking is USA's fault.
