工人党副主席费沙一两年前主动提出要到淡滨尼集选区竞选。他说，离开服务三届的阿裕尼集选区时，内心是平静的，并很高兴有机会带着新人到淡滨尼参选，把经验传授给他们。

费沙星期五（4月25日）接受《海峡时报》博客访问时说，大概一两年前，他告诉工人党秘书长毕丹星想到淡滨尼集选区竞选，刚开始比较多是在开玩笑。不过，后来听到很多亲友，以及在售卖党报时遇到的居民，都说希望工人党到淡滨尼集选区参选，让他认真思考。

“我知道自己的心意，所以之后有人提议要我到淡滨尼集选区去时，我告诉毕丹星，我准备好了。”

2011年步入政坛的费沙，过去三届大选都在阿裕尼集选区服务。他这次带领的竞选团队，有四名是首次参选的新人，包括、王锐斌博士（Ong Lue Ping，48岁）、蒋佩姗（Eileen Chong，33岁）、唐光伟（Michael Thng，37岁）和陈钦德（Jimmy Tan，53岁）。

费沙说，若当选，有信心能照顾好选区，因为他曾是阿裕尼—后港市镇理事会主席，在处理基层事务方面有足够经验。

工人党主席林瑞莲早前提到，工人党强调的是能在国会扮演怎样的角色。领军行动党淡滨尼集选区团队的社会及家庭发展部长兼卫生部第二部长马善高过后回应说，选民须知道如果某个政党只专注于国会事务，就可能忽略基层事务。

据《联合早报》记者观察，工人党淡滨尼集选区候选人，星期五早上在淡滨尼北与居民交流，派发印有团队照片的竞选卡片。

毕丹星答复媒体询问时不愿多谈，仅淡淡回应：“吴明盛就是吴明盛，我就说到这里。” （吴先邦摄）

针对人民力量党秘书长吴明盛指责工人党刻意阻挡其进入国会，工人党秘书长毕丹星简短回应：“吴明盛就是吴明盛。”

毕丹星星期五（4月25日）早上在凤山巴刹与熟食中心为工人党东海岸集选区团队拉票时作出上述回应。

工人党本届大选放弃竞逐马林百列—布莱德岭集选区，转攻东部的淡滨尼集选区，促成该区四角战。参选的还有国民团结党和人民力量党。

吴明盛星期四（24日）晚上在群众大会上批评工人党“弃守”马林百列是要阻止他进入国会，并声称人民力量党是唯一在冠病疫情期间质疑疫苗政策的政党。

对此，毕丹星答复媒体询问时不愿多谈，仅淡淡回应：“吴明盛就是吴明盛，我就说到这里。”
