MRT is a form of less-privileged mass transit, and people don't own the train they ride in. They cannot tell the train driver or programming to suka switch from EWL to Circle Line, or last minute turn back because someone forgot to bring his homework. Of course the least privileged mass transit is walking, followed by cycling, these require minimal government setup and maintenance... but safety hugely improves if government properly creates and separates footpaths from bicycle paths from vehicular roads.
Imagine a plot of asphalt. In less than a second, a car, typically containing 1-2 persons, goes over it and is gone.
Imagine a section of track as the same length as the plot of asphalt. In multiple seconds, a train with multiple carriages carrying a total of 100+ people goes over that section of track before it is gone.
The amount of privilege for that plot of asphalt is much higher than that of the equal-length section of track.
What is your point of highlighting this?
That the more privileged are more ownself care ownself than the less privileged?
What there should no be roads for cars?
