i think many sinkees think our govt are very powerful, and we have netizens and the machinery say something useless like:
"singapore should do something"
"singapore need to do something"
"WP has no solution..."

but ASEAN was formed to counter the rise of communism back then. So what if we are powerful in ASEAN? THe purpose of ASEAN now is mainly for trading, and there was a consensus not to interfere with each other's politics..

when Thailand and Myanmar had their political trouble the last 10 years, everyone can only call for calm but not do anything..

Tourists cancelling accommodation bookings in Thai provinces near conflict zone

A wave of booking cancellations has hit accommodation providers in Sa Kaeo’s border districts of Aranyaprathet, Ta Phraya, and Khlong Hat, said Permanent Secretary for Thailand’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports Natreeya Taweewong on Thursday.

Tourist numbers have also declined in these areas, with Surin Province - where fierce fighting has erupted - hit the hardest, she said.

The country’s Ministry of Tourism and Sports had on Thursday urged holidaymakers to steer clear of these volatile areas.

What we know so far

The latest flare-up between the two countries began with military border clashes in May that left one Cambodian soldier dead.

Cambodia and Thailand have been embroiled in a decades-long territorial row. Tensions had escalated in May after a Cambodian soldier was killed in military border clashes.

On Wednesday, five members of a Thai military patrol were wounded by a landmine blast in the Nam Yuen district of north-eastern Ubon Ratchathani province, according to the Thai army.

The situation spiralled swiftly today, leading to the deaths of at least 11 civilians. Here's a recap of how things unfolded.
