Hi all,

Computer is 2 yr 3 mth old, specs on the right. All along working fine. Last night while playing guild wars 2 suddenly hang with busy light on. Restarted, comp still laggy and non responsive. Eg Click start menu never open, click chrome never open, browse windows explorer hang.

Did full reformat to Windows 7 32-bit, installed chipset drivers, no GFX no soundcard no printer attached, issue still persist. Eg Install Asus N13 wireless adapter took 5 mins, open chrome cannot load website, click chrome tab hang.

Anyone encountered before? I'm considering getting new harddisk.

do a memtest and check your hd status.

Memtest pass #1 passed, restarted, took out CD. For 2+ mins before "starting windows", comp black screen with busy light. For 2+ mins stuck at "starting windows". Accidentally selected windows update, now installing 23/123 windows update. -.-

u need to repeat memtest at least 10 times to make sure it really pass. and based on ur situation it looks like its ur HDD spoil alrdy. very similar situation as mine. check the health status of HDD (most probably its that.).

Sounds really like your HDD is dying soon. Scan it with HDTune Pro to verify the issue.

1 run of memtest mean nothing. Do at least 10 runs.
And yeah check HDD too.

When doing HDTune scan, uncheck the quick scan option.

I RMA WD drives before... Just tell them drive has multiple bad sectors. That will do. Before u RMA though, go make an online RMA request at their support page...

Thanks all, everyone's very helpful. =D
I learnt about memtest and HDtune to test ram and harddisk respectively.
Going Sim Lim today to buy SDD and/or harddisk.
