Continue with Singtel or ?

I been a Singtel customer for 12yrs. But was kinda Disappointed with their mobile phone data plan. Currently I'm still on the 12gb plan at $59.90. Recently the cso called me and offered me a 24 Months $8 bill rebate if I change to their current 3gb plan also at $59.90. I'm looking at starhub plan. Almost the same price but they give me 4gb and the cap is reasonable. Any advice?

if only mobile phone plan (ie. non-bundled), i would prefer SH coz for the 58-59.90 plan, SH has more data n talk time than ST; n more data than M1.

Definitely prefer starhub. I have friends who are using starhub and are loving it.

So far i think Singtel networks are pretty reliable, going over as my $205 iFlexi Premium, Singtel jack up the price to $239 now. Really feel damn cheated. Have been their customer since 1990s.

Last time when free incoming call plans are here, they didn't even bothered to inform me, end up paying $500+ a month.

Privatisation is really bad for our national telco. Too overly profit oriented.

But I only realize they keep on adjusting their price upward and recently up the highest plan to $239.90. Last weeks, I just made a decision and switched camp to Starhub for their multi line discount. Company line all changed to M1. I don't think Singtel coverage is so fantastic that they can command so high price as compared with others. There are a lot of areas I could not even surf in decent speed, their 3G is really suck at some locations especially peak hour. There are locations I couldn't even made call. . After switching to the other telco for around 2 weeks, I didn't find any difference. Basically they all about the same. The only difference is I pay much less for better data and talk time. Actually loyalties worth nothing to all telcos. Pick the best and cheapest to suite your need.

I have 5 lines with SingTel, mobile data line, Mio ... anything you named it all under SingTel for over 15 years liao ...

Recently, I just realised SingTel has jacked up their price so much ... (I used to think all the 3 providers are more or less the same price). And their 4G plan very often gone to 3G, sometimes even 2G only.

My personal feeling is they do not give a hoot about their customers. When all my plans expire, I will jump ship to M1 liao ...

yes and i realised i could simply use the starhub new plan which is the HD voice plan with unlimited outgoing calls too. At a price of $88. I don't think Singtel can ever beat that.

I'm using my $300 voucher to buy iPhone 5S with topup without contract, then next year september, all go over starhub. Can save at least $300+ per month for all the plans.

Worst thing is, when i complained, the Singtel manager tell me, all telcos have different plans and prices. But he never tell me theirs is the highest already and still going up. When i asked if Singtel will be up for the challenge on unlimited outgoing plans at LESS THAN $100. He simply tell me to subscribe for the $239 Prestige plan if i need more call times......

If you're on SingTel 4G and if you have the latest devices like Samsung Galaxy Note 3, you can surf at speeds of up to 150mpbs, which is fastest in Singapore.

Sometimes there is a drop in reception, especially since so many new buildings are coming up, which may block existing network signals. Or, when you're underground or on the MRT, the network is shared across the telcos and enhancements may not be as prompt as we would like since it can only be done after the train service hours. The enhancements are also subject to regulator approval who may prioritise train or other infrastructure upgrades.

Progress of SingTel's network enhancements are on its website and you can give your feedback at here so that they can send a team to investigate and enhance the coverage in the affected areas.

So what if dual band coverage? Got twice the speed faster or twice better coverage than M1? No.

Starhub if complete their 4G network can be quite good for pricing. But now they charge 1 minute block, before per second billing (PSB). Quite sad as SH is the first for PSB and now trying to follow Singtel.

That means if you go call another party and say "Hey, help me buy a coke from 7-11" and your friend replies "Ok" and hang up, you will be charged 1 minute, een though the above 2 sentence you can finish it within 30 seconds.

Per second billing means your 100 minute ($39 basic plan), 300 mins ($59 medium plan) and 700 mins ($99 high plan) is really given as such.

Check your handphone next time when you hang up, some short calls like 0:00:30 will means you have used 1 minute for Singtel and Starhub which is a problem when you make a missed call that diverted into this message: "You have reached...." and you just hang up immediately.

And for 6 second billing, something exclusively for Singtel, it means that if you make a call of 1 minute and 2 seconds, you will be using 1 minute 6 seconds. The 4 seconds per call means it will cheat another minute with 15 such calls.

Hence, the problem with Singtel is that their plans are always lower talk time (200 min VS 300 min for $59 plan, 500 min VS 700 min for $99 plan), but more easier to utilize up and always by $0.90 to $1.80 more expensive than M1 / Starhub.

Yes, who uses that much SMS nowadays with WhatsApp which is something Singtel good at?

Even for $198 unlimited call 12GB plan, it comes with 2k SMS. Singtel one is $239.90 for unlimited plan. So for the difference of $41.90, it means that one needs to make 2838 SMS per month in order to break even.

So no one in their sane mind should ever use Singtel once it is out of contract unless they uses 2838 SMS per month. However, Starhub's Elite plan is so unattractive as it is the only elite plan that comes without unlimited calls and yet caps the SMS at 2.5k for 12GB data.

Hence, Make the right choice and join the M1 or Starhub (Unlimited plan) revolution now.

the reason i'm on the highest plan is because of the talktime. So far i have not face any telco that cannot call smoothly. Have you?

Only slow data, but i don't have so much time to surf on the go either.

Hence the $88 plan from Starhub fits me the best. 1GB data and unlimited call time.

Singtel and fatty robo can go fk spider. keep feed till buibui from $205 to $239.

I may need your colleague help. My contact is 91066555. I faced a lot of problem with Singtel coverage. I could not have a proper telephone call at China Town MRT till Tiong Bahru MRT. I could not surf at decent speed during peak hour from Jurong East to Tanjong Pagar (The whole journey, I probably flashed a few web pages and I reach my office). If you can solve it I will switch back to Singtel. At Starhub I can at least call at China Town MRT but also face problem at Tiong Bahru or Outram Park. However, with Starhub, I can surf quite OK from Jurong East to Tanjong Pagar during peak hour.

I am not saying Singtel coverage is no good but it is far from 99.99% coverage. Similar to Starhub is like shithub in term of service and their lousy 1633. (If you can hear human voice within 10 minutes is like as hard as striking 1milllion TOTO).

Based on my personal experience, all our Telco are quite jialat if you compared with Korea; Japan and Hong Kong. That's why they said that based on their data base, 90% of data users in Singapore is hardly using more that 2-3GB. Come on, with this pathetic lousy speed and coverage, it is a dream to ever hit that volume. Our 4G or LTE is worse than others 3G.

We are just ordinary users, no point to explain and tell what band or dual band etc. Do the basic thing right and give us a reasonable speed and coverage, even with 3G, it is already a blessing.

Since all Telcos are like that, as a user, we just pick the cheapest and wait and see. Even though the Shithub has lousy service, at least their plans are competitive and ultimately, I do not deal with their customer service officer everyday.
