Converting old ssd to portable disk drives?

Hi all,

Wondering what u guys do to your old ssd if/ when u upgrade to bigger space.

Is it possible to use Ssd as portable drives? Are there such enclosures avail huh?

Of course. If it's a standard 2.5 inch SATA drive any external USB 2.5" SATA enclosure will work fine.

when you buy the enclosure, make sure it's a USB 3 model...

I don't use enclosures. i just connect it using the cable and adapter from a Seagate Backup Plus external drive. ;-)

Thanks guys for your answers, maybe I can use one of my existing portable drives (those that already came with hdd) and try to pry them open to change the Ssd. Anyone tried that or must I go buy those empty kind

sell the old ssd, then get bigger size external hdd. depends on the size it might be same or cheaper doing so.

Yep, I just set it up like this, for the last 2 years... lighter... Even using bare drive for the Seagate Thunderbolt adapter...

Hey thanks for the pixs! I realized I hv one of those too from my seagate go flex. Will use that, why I hv never thought of that I never know.
