Saw like at one of the shops selling Chinese food got microwave one. Just a plastic cup with the tangyuan (I think in freeze dry form) and soup inside. You add the tangyuan into the soup, microwave and it is done.

the last time i tried, the balls "exploded", even on the lowest power setting. too short time and its still cold, too long and it explode. you need convective heat transfer, not microwave.

Ah means if I thaw beforehand can just use oil pan fry without water?
another benefit of adding water..... is to moisture the food. so see yourself.

if for me, i will thaw+add little bit of water.
pan fry + oil = create crispy layer/texture
soft & chewy = add water = moisture
hard to chew = overcooked = lose too much water content
soggy & not crispy = too much water added

u can also pan fry Png Kueh.... delicious too.
