This I agree most budget build uses ID cooling.
Cooler master HSF rarely seen but there are people like me who uses it.

Must compare with the new competitors coming into the market ma especially given the number of tower HSFs entering the market in that price range. Can't just keep recommending it if there's no empirical data to say it is better, especially since price has shot up quite a bit.

Well, nobody recommends 212 already because it's been proven for years that it is a thing of the past.

Proven for years by who though? I don't recommend it because Cooler Master happily shot the price up over Covid making it comparatively poor value versus ID Cooling and so on, not because it's significantly worse than others in performance.

In the past, many comparisons have already shown the freezer 34 esports duo outshining the 212. In recent years, many coolers not on the list also did better than the freezer 34 esports duo. The comparisons were everywhere on the internet.

The 212 is a thing of the past. Not sure why it's being brought up again. I don't wanna be guilty of doing that, but here you go.

Fair enough, 5 deg C is a big difference in the realm of cheap coolers. I was under the impression that the 212 was still good because of the number of people still recommending it, but I guess they were wrong.

Let me share, PS don't argue with me or say I am Cooler master fan.

The Cooler master hyper 212 is a relic of the past but around $50 there are very few choices.
Either the ID cooling and etc. HSF, the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black edition.
The weakness is actually not the heatsink since it have a improved and secure mounting unlike the older
CM Hyper 212X.

The CM Hyper 212X HSF can turn if you tilt it so you have to ensure it is position properly so the fan
is at the correct angle and position. The slienco fan that came with the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black edition is the weakness, the CFM is way lower than the previous gen.

This point was also mentioned in the video so if you ask me does changing the fan help?
I rather you buy either other cooler or the CM Hyper 212 BE with RGB fan which have a stronger fan
with higher CPF at 69CFM vs 42CFM of the non-RGB version.

The picture that I share is CM Hyper 212 BE with RGB fan and only this SKU than the cooling performance
is acceptable. Depend which CPU are you using, CM Hyper 212 BE to cool 65watt TDP CPU is fine.
But 95 watt TDP and above recommend consider others like cooler master masterair ma612 stealth
which I also have.

I don't understand why Cooler master don't just include their Sickleflow fan with Cooler master hyper 212 BE
or just sell the RGB version since it have a stronger fan.
Take note at Sim Lim Square CM Hyper 212 BE can be rare especially the RGB version.

Price wise CM Hyper 212 BE is around $50, CM Hyper 212 BE RGB is abit more around $70.

I don't think it is during COVID that CM started increasing the price of the Hyper 212. The first Hyper 212 with the Red LED for AM4 was available at around 39 bucks (I got mine for around 28 or 29 bucks online during a sale + discount). Then with every passing generation, the prices just keeps going up until I last tracked it, it was like 69 or 79 bucks for some fancy white or black version with RGB fans front and back. The heatsink is still pretty much the same. For that price and cooling performance, ID Cooling basically offers better heatsink for lesser money. Even the Scythe Fuma 2 @ 69 bucks then was better value than buying the overpriced Hyper 212 in whatever color or RGB fans. CM basically forgot what made the Hyper 212 successful over the years.

To me, the supposed changes in the heatsink is actually not going to make a significant difference in cooling performance. What the cooler lacks is surface area and heatpipes, thus, the existence of dual tower cooler. From my last Hyper 212, it was just ok to keep the Ryzen 2700X cool.

As to fan, I am not a big fan of CM fans. The last CM Scythe flow fan that came with my NR200 seems to vibrate a lot and causing the top of the case to rattle. When I googled online, it seems that this is not a remote case.

I still have this in my tower. Frankly the thermal paste u use matters a lot more.

True, I use Noctua Thermal paste helps with stabilizing the contact and temperature.
The stock CM thermal paste as well as cheap thermal paste contact and performance
maybe weak.

Try to get a decent Thermal paste like Noctua Thermal HT-N1 around $20.

This is the same problem with the NR200. It vibrates the entire top of the case from time to time, which can be very annoying. I think you can go around the problem with a vibration dampener, i.e. those rubber grommet.

This, I have owned both the CM Hyper 212 BE RGB and this CM MA612.
The CM MA612 will be a better performer than the CM Hyper 212, 6 heatpipes and two
CM Sickleflow fan.

CM MA612 also easier to dismantle if you need to reapply thermal paste in the future or change CPU.
Take note PCthemes may have limited stock so get it when it is still available.
Think that thing I brought which was few months ago, there was only few sets left.
