Hi guys,

Would like to gather some opinions on the following subject. I am planning to change the stock fan of the cooler master hyper 212x. Currently, I set the CPU fan mode to auto instead of PWM mode (using hyper 212 stock PWM fan). Which setting is recommended? Thanks!

These are the 2 fans that i've in mind. Any more recommendation? Which one is recommended in terms of performance on cooling, acoustic and air flow?

1) Corsair SP120
2) Fractal design Venturi HP-12 PWM
3) Noctua NF F12

Don't think i need water cooling as i am not doing any OC-ing. Wanted to bring the temp down a bit more but i am afraid that the Corsair SP 120 will be very loud.

if you're not OCing then no need to upgrade. the only reason you'd want to upgrade is aesthetics as stock cooler is butt ugly. if you don't oc then bringing the temp lower won't make much of a difference. safe money bro.

What temps are you getting now? I don't think changing fan will make a significant difference leh, unless the stock fans very chui. If you not OC-ing even less point in changing. Your only gain may be reduced noise.

It might even be a downgrade :s22:

Found one video, where the guy changed the stock fan on a 212 evo to noctua nf-f12. The noctua actually gave 5degC higher temp than the stock CM fan cos it has lower max RPM. :s13:

The stock fan is good enough. I upgraded to Gentle Typhoons and did not see any noticeable difference.

Getting around 43C on idle. My room quite stuffy though. I feel that the stock fan is alright just want to bring down the temperature a bit more.

Not really. A lot of pple still recommend Gentle Typhoon. Haha. Just wanna seek for more opinions. What you think?

Im also around 41-42 idle but on hyper 212x. Really wonder what went wrong, have tried reseating the hsf, reapply thermal paste. Or is it my installation skills plainly suck

offset voltage by -0.10, most cpus can do offsets of at least -0.10 and still be stable at stock clocks.

I can feel u. Sometimes i am wondering about what actually went wrong after seeing people posting temperature of less than 40C. My room is actually quite stuffy. Anybody know which shop in SLS sells the cooler master blade fan? The same stock fan as hyper 212x. Thinking of doing a push-pull configuration. Corsair SP 120 is way too loud.

the temperature sensor is not suppose to be accurate

it starts from 100 or 105 d celcius and countdown how close the temps are to that point of throttling
example 80 d celcius is -20 from 100 d celcius ...... the sensor reports back this -20 value
the closer to max the more accurate ... the further the more inaccurate

If 10C above ambient is like roughly the average, then yours may be on the slightly warm side.

If you know your room is stuffy, maybe you can try to improve that first. Think of how to circulate the air better in your room first. Maybe that's the factor that's the real bottleneck, cos on air your PC is taking warm air in = warm air out.

Lol, try removing the side panel and see if temps improve. If doesn't change much then the problem is the room liao.
