All the comments and ideas no use because no mention of amount involved. If not much, withdraw every cents and jump from bank to bank that offer the highest yields. When yields drop, put back into CPF in one go or two by VC and TU, if acceptable. VC 37,740 to OA. MA and SA and Top up $9000 to RA. RA could be more if he never top up since age 55.

i think ard 100k in oa

It’s easier said than done about elderly needing to be more savvy, there are many ppl out there including here. Not very elderly but still want physical token over digital.

savvy in term of investment awareness, not so much on digital transformation.
I do encourage people to use hardware token for better security control.

banks are not doing enough to implement proper 2FA solution, the phone App confirmation with simple Yes and No button is not safe enough.accidentally accepting the online connection could happen with a slip of hand.

the weakest link is over the web interface with no mutual authentication measure to allow users to challenge and prove its identify. as a result, many scam sites could be setup to fool around.

Sidetrack a bit: RHB uses only the app, has no web interface. And the app is bind to the user after setup. Can I say RHB is actually safer than the others? Anyone?

Say phone died then how to access immediately? You can get new phone quickly to install app or quickly use a browser access the online banking and use? To me banks should have both online and mobile banking for such scenario. Of cuz one can argue computer or laptop died then no browser to login and the argument go on and on

RHB is the type of interest earning account that most will not need to access daily. And web login also need OTP or digital token to authorize certain transactions. In the end still need a phone.

What I mean is offer two modes rather than one mode. Let customer has the choice. With RHB no choice

it is as safe as the user is being careful
Yeah of course. But to those scam victims, at least phishing wouldn't have worked if there's no web login. Yeah I understand they may get scammed eventually in other way also if not careful.
