No, CPF LIFE is not "zero interest." All starting premiums have grown thanks to CPF interest (SA/OA then RA), and all CPF LIFE monthly payout amounts are computed inclusive of interest, including bonus interest.

The government does offer options to opt out of CPF LIFE. For example/in particular, if you have any reasonable alternative life annuity with an equal or higher monthly payout stream then you can apply to withdraw all your Retirement Account funds and opt out of CPF LIFE completely.
