May be jailed for life.

After embezzling the money, he still dared to gamble at MBS.

Real bold.

Which company does pay for gambling habit?:s22:
Jokes aside.

This is not the 1st and not going be last case. The govt better go through their whole civil service, rip open their financial administration, circumvent all their SOP policies and do a revision if there can be lapses.

CPIB is a bureau set up to handle corruption. But in recent cases, they can't even prove to walk the talk. Yes it can be said 1 or 2 individuals give it a bad name, but if you want to set up a high integrity department, make sure its high integrity.

For me as a citizen of Singapore, I have no confidence in the way I see how CPIB discovers 1.7million public funds. Not talking about 170k.

All these officers are sleeping their way through their jobs.

There will always be back sheep in any organization. More so when the system allow a single individual to hold too much power. Whistle blowing is a good corporate governance and it helps to take care of this case. Now they need to weed out others since they realize the loophole if any.

It is a painful excercise but necessary. Those above him also need to be accounted for it one way or another.

Which appears to be lacking in our public service. Too often have key appointment holders, accountable officers get away with a slap on the wrist. Start the firing I say. Our government likes to be paid salaries comparable with private sector. Now start facing consequences like in the private sector.

Wrong problem targeted. The problem is not civil servants who gamble, those will be charged. The real problem is a govt who is blind to negative externalities as long as there is money to be made.

Close down casino, he can still go Malaysia to gamble.

Good argument except with a casino, gambling can be a daily affair. With one in Malaysia, you can't really travel there everyday to gamble.

Technically, this is not corruption, it is misappropriation. To corrupt, it involves another person giving something in exchange for favours. TS should change the title.

CPIB only reports to the PMO.

Seems that the msm are not running articles about how CPIB had tarnished Singapore's reputation as a corrupt free country.

I never thought of SG as corruption free (or civil servants doing bad things free)

it has always been a place where you can't hide it forever and you get found out.

corruption if allowed to run unchecked will root itself into the system. Has it become like that??

think about that before you "shoot" the MSM with your metador tube

You count as one...

Sg has been touted as the city state that has solved the corruption problem by paying high salary.

Has anyone independent verified that corruption here is not systematic?

And those are illegal isn't it?

Since you are taking this line of reasoning, might as well make misappropriation and corruption legal since some are doing it...
