Hi,

I'm having some temp problems with my CPU. I'm using a i5 3550 on a z77 pro3 and a 290x tri-x in a t28 sharktoon. My PC is rather old by modern standards ~ 3 years and I have recently started to monitor my CPU temps using HW monitor. No problems with my GPU but my CPU idles at 60 degree and 90-100 at load (turbo at load). However, despite my temps hitting 105 degree for extended periods of time, my computer still continues to run with no problem

Should I be worried? Given that my CPU has prob been running so high for years and has never given a problem...

Its not good to do that, and by letting it be, you will probably damage your chip further. It is high chance that your thermal paste has dried up.

Buy a good thermal paste such as Artic MX4.
Remove your cpu cooler.
Clean off the thermal paste found on the cooler.
And reapply a small amount on it and remount back the cooler.
