Just upgraded from hd7770 to gtx950 and I realised my cpu temps went up from 70c to around 80-90c(sc2). I wonder is it cpu being the bottleneck? Cpu idle at 50c

some thermal pastes will dry out over time and cause temps to go up. you can get the shin etsu microsi thermal compound for $3 from nf2 in hardwarezone's marketplace, it should work just fine. just make sure you clean up all of the old thermal paste in the cpu and stock cooler before applying the new paste.

I misphrase my reply... I meant that i5-2500k got aftermarket cooler on it or not? I know stock cooler got 10+ c difference from aftermarket ones

And also I haven't replaced the paste

hmm my i7 2600k idle temp is 55-65 Celsius
hits 98 when playing guild wars 2...

max 80+ if i switched off turbo in bios...

just reapplied thermal paste a few weeks ago... before that the idle temp was 65-75...

not sure if my corsair h60 is already damaged due to too high temperatures... :(

where did you hear that it drys fast btw? was planning to go get some at sls for $2 each later(if the $2 ones are shin etsu) for another rig i was putting together. but then again, can't really expect top-notch quality for $2 :s13:

not hear but try before because I bought some parts from nf2 and used it. the thermal paste not very good... very fast dry... I used it for my dedicated openfiler machine 24x7. End up reapply after 5~6months... :)
