CPU cooling/thermal paste recommendations

Hi all I’m looking for some cooling recommendations. Don’t think I’ll do water cooling as I’m not confident enough to do if myself, but I’ve also never installed an aftermarket cooler before.

I don’t think I’ll be overclocking much since I’m using R5 3600. But if the fan can handle it, why not I guess.

looking for fan hopefully under $50. Also need to know if thermal paste is required or if it comes with the cooler itself. Thanks!

You can use the thermal paste that comes with the cooler. Can't go wrong with a 212x

Yea , air-cooler is nothing complicated. Just 212 good enough

Most if not all aftermarket coolers, air or liquid comes with a small tube of thermal paste. You can even buy "better" ones should you fancy.

Below $50 is only 212 LED.
212x is not $50, I think though many many months ago was $40ish.
GD900, china thermal paste, current is the most value for money.

Not just the cooler that needs to be considered but the fan used as well. For 120mm fans, best to get Gentle Typhoon AP-15 1850rpm PWM fans. They are the kings in static pressure vs noise level. About $25-ish from taobao w/o shipping or try find in carousell. It is a worthy investment for any radiators/cpu coolers.

hah? You mean buy the cooler, but don't use the fan that comes with the cooler? Is that even possible? I thought those fans clip on to the heatsink

btw, anyone know if there'll be any issue with the cooler clearance? My casing lists its max clearance at 160mm, and the Hyper 212 is also 160mm. Any issue here if it's exact?

They usually use those paper clips like to hook fan onto heatsink, u can check YT on installation.
