if Skylake on track 2H'15...

"The first SKUs won’t be unlocked, so desktop enthusiasts may choose to wait for the Skylake-K variant, coming in 2016."

I guess the deciding factor is a price of ddr4 ram at the point of release.

Many ppl got ddr3 at its cheapest times n I dun many are wwilling to give those up

Hope performance is good and finally it can hit 5GHz. DC was disappointing cause what Intel promised never materialised. OC was never improved and TIM still as crappy. All the extra caps etc never did improve oc and 5GHz was never achieved without insane voltage.

But having said that, I got a feeling I will be disappointed if my expectations for skylake is too high....

Yeah true...

If Skylake doesn't perform then I am abandoning my upgrade plans already.

Maybe upgrade other hardware liao.

According to the source, the Skylake processors would be compatible with the latest LGA 1151 socketed boards and Z170 chipset which is part of the new 100-Series chipset replacing the 9-Series “Wild Cat” PCH. The second most interesting thing covered is that Skylake processors would have both DDR3 and DDR4 memory controllers so they will support both types of memory.

IMHO, the biggest problem is that DDR4 offers no performance benefits over DDR3 other than synthetic benchmarks. So, I don't feel there is a point upgrading to DDR4.

Now need new board and chipset again.... I also wonder how much faster is skylake compared to Haswell. I guess 20% but I got a feel I will be disappointed.

You could be disappointed....

TDP 的話,2.3GHz 版本的四核心處理器為 95W,至於 2.2GHz 則是 80W。

I think Skylake is more about the new bling bling features and doing more while using less power. Very likely won't see a big performance increase.

hmm... 7 years ago that will be intel core 2?
depends on what u do... surf web, e-mails, watch u-tube still good for daily use.

My comp intermittent got display, sometime no display. So I remove the battery on the MB (instead of opening up the casing to reset the CMOS).

I actually intend to upgrade after Windows 10 will be launch next May but it seem intel will be launching its new product on late 2015 then. Hai....

I want to play GTA 5 and Battlefield.....

try replace new battery on the MB? anyway if u really need a new pc just get it now. no point of waiting game which maybe 6-9 months down the road... win8.1 runs smooth and fast, best OS IMO. if u want start menu just install Classic Shell

Changed batt already but still the same. Not sure if it's mobo or graphic card. I don't want to change then new stuff come out.

Plus there is any graphic card can support 4K monitor or games.
