Plz recommend suitable cpu+mobo package for running 3-4 vmware (running games).

Currently using i7-3770k + asus sabertooth z77, with coolIT AIO liquid cooler with temp around 89 to 93 degrees celsius under full load.

Budget: 1k
Hope to achieve healthy cpu temp.

Got delid your CPU? And what fans are you running on your Coolit AIO?

And most importantly, when was the last time you did a spring clean on the radiator and fans (IF ANY)?

If u want to multibox mmorpg, just use process explorer, no need install and run multiple windows just for it.

Brush is never enough...

Get compressed air or use vacuum cleaner to clean the dust off both radiator and fan blade. Or as well upgrade the fan. And delidding your Ivy Bridge chip will reduce temp up to 20 degrees. Worth a try. But there are risks involved FYI.

For VMs, you need to up your RAM first before anything else; they sure eat up a lot more RAM before you need to even worry about your CPU.

Currently now testing out with an old rig; the ESXi hypervisor alone taking up 1.5GB RAM approximately. If say each VM is a Linux server, not so bad since 1GB RAM each will be enough. But if say each VM is a Windows desktop, somemore got game running on it, each will need 4GB RAM minimum.

All these will add up really quickly beyond the usual 8GB you see being recommended in many of the rigs here. Be sure to have enough RAM slots and also using correct CPUs that allow more RAM (Skylake in particular is very attractive since all CPUs allow VT-d and maximum 64GB RAM).

lol... U think OP knows how to find VirtIO Drivers or rebuild a Windows ISO with the VirtIO Drivers slipstream.... I bet if he knows all this he won't even ask about hardware requirements in here... Lol
