Hi bosses,

Looking for a CPU+Mobo combo for under $1k. Mobo will need a M.2 PCIE slot. Probably ATX to fit in a mid tower casing. CPU needs to handle AAA games at 1440p. Overclocking is not really a must. No need any frills either. I don't care how ugly it may look as my casing has no window.

Seems like my CPU is bottlenecking my GTX 1070. It would be nice if I could run Shadow of the Tomb Raider at the highest settings.

Thanks all

Ryzen 3700X + MSI B450 Tomahawk Max

Save the balance for Ampere next year.

The wait game is never ending, by the time the next gen gpu is out the next gen cpu will be around the corner and so on...

I belive in just getting everything at one go and stop reading the news after that. Let the budget and brand loyalty decide what series of cpu/gpu to get.

For your budget and to play AAA games at 1440p, you can consider Ryzen 5 3600 + B450. Then with the remaining budget upgrade to a RTX 2070 Super or RX 5700 XT.

Your GPU is bottleneck. Get a better gpu.

I would recommend Ryzen 5 3600 + Asrock B450M Pro4 since you want M2 and use the rest to upgrade GPU.

Most modern games are GPU limited at 1440p(borderline) and above.

Changing GPU makes more sense usually.

I already said gamin need better gpu especially play in 1440p high setting. I change 3600 is because my Intel spoil and I don't game in 1440p

My point is changing cpu and mobo doesn't improve much in ur 1440p gaming, in rendering video editing maybe does

that's what I thought, but it seems the game can't run properly if I have a web browser open at the same time. Objects only start loading faster when the browser is closed. It can't be that a web browser uses up that much of the GPU?

Anyway, if $1k can also fit in an RTX GPU then I'll go for the RTX 1st and see if I do need a CPU upgrade. I havent been following prices in a long time

Hey, i upgraded from i5 6500 + gtx1070 to R5 3600 + gtx1070. 1440p for both. Utilisation: cpu near 100%, gpu about 80% in old setup. Now cpu 20%, gpu 100%.

But need to manage your expectation. 1440p 144hz max setting SotTB prob need 2080ti

Edit: checked the SotTB benchmark for 1070 to 2080ti. 2080ti only hit 107fps avg
