Hi all,

Just got a Samsung EVO 250gb SSD yesterday to run alongside my WD Black HDD. Realize that my CPU fan has been whirring loudly since after installation. Avg. CPU temp now is around 55 degrees, used to be 45+.

Any ideas why my system is being overheated and stressed? CPU usage is usually less than 50%

Specs:
Windows 7 SP 1
AMD II X6 1055T 2.80Ghz
Gigabyte 870a-UD3 mobo
4x Casing cooler fan
8GB ram

Hi all,

tks for replying. Task manager show no abnormal CPU usage load as compared to before installing SSD day before.

However, fan is whirring loudly even when at minimal surfing which didn't happen before installing ssd. using stock hsf fan (which only used to only whirr loudly when gaming)

also did a reinstall of windows, any software/services i can try tweaking?

huh you said average cpu usage had climbed to 50% + hotter then now say no change in cpu usage..

if fan spin more but still increase in temps means either something using ur cpu or ur cooler has been displaced during installation. Check if you had dislodged ur cooler.

Also you might have change a custom fan profile in your bios, check that too.

Reseat the cooler... apply new thermal paste... clean the dust...

I would buy a new cooler... got good cheap ones like the hyper 212 evo

SSD should be running cooler than HDD, I wonder if the high access speed of SSD make the CPU runs more frequently~?

the cpu will clock itself to 100% if you used samsung magician to optimize performance. just go to power options, advanced settings and set minimum processor state back to 5%.

@superzheny
I said CPU temp raised, but usage not that much increase when averaged out

@mosmos
thats what i suspect too, high access speed of sdd increasing load -> increasing temp.

@alienare
I did not install the bundled software. should I?

@all
I had tried to rest my bios setting leh, but can't figure out whats the issue. any particular setting you guys know of that can affect?
i just applied new thermal paste 2 mths ago and also vacuumed inside casing

btw, if my reallocated sector count is like below picture, does it mean bad sector so fast? Hw come raw value is 000 but already so fast got Current count = 100??
